HOW IT GOT STARTED:
In honor of the late David Hickman (1937-2010), the New Ulm Art Festival Association (501(c)3 non-profit) raises scholarship funds to be awarded to local art students attending schools in and around New Ulm, including Bellville, Columbus, Fayetteville and Sealy, Texas. Kenneth Turner and David Hickman co-founded the original New Ulm Art Festival which was held annually from 20

00 through 2007 and revived in 2013. Hickman was an influential art professor at the University of Houston for 41 years, and established their master’s degree program in art.
