Mustard Seed Farm & Market

Mustard Seed Farm & Market Growing great plants and PEOPLE! Mustard Seed Farm & Market is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit horticulture-based work program.

Mustard Seed Farm & Market is a horticulture-based program providing opportunitiesfor adults with disabilities and promoting monarch butterfly education and habitat restoration. It was created to offer employment and job skill training for adults who have disabilities. Our goal as an organization is to provide meaningful work, while teaching skills that will allow our participants to gain employme

nt outside of Mustard Seed, at other jobs within the horticulture industry. The primary skill set that we will teach is basic plant weeding, watering, and care techniques within a greenhouse setting. We will also focus heavily on seed germination, propagation, and planting of butterfly milkweed plants. Due to the nature of our activities, we can provide modifications and accommodate a wide range of abilities. We also will have long term employment opportunities for individuals who may not be able to find other work within the community outside of our program. Our focus on butterfly milkweed plants will allow us to grow and ship difficult to grow, hard-to-find dspecies all over the country and supply a high demand within the market that most commercial growers don’t have the time or staffing to produce. Our research and development over the past 5 years has allowed us to reach an 85% germination rate, and we are confident in the procedures that we have developed to allow us to grow a consistent, quality product that will be a significant source of self-sustaining income for our program. IN THE FUTURE-
As we grow, our long term plans include expanding into edible crops and building a farmer’s market complex on site that is staffed and operated by our program participants. Within our farmer’s market we be able to expand our program to add shipping, customer service, and retail-oriented job skill training as well. We also fully intend to incorporate residential housing into the same complex once our program and market are well established. We will strive to provide the opportunity for meaningful work to all different levels of ability. Mustard Seed Farm & Market is GROWING GREAT PLANTS AND PEOPLE!

This Easter, we’re reflecting on transformation—the quiet, unseen kind that changes everything.

In the stillness of the tomb, something miraculous was unfolding. What looked like an ending was, in truth, the beginning of new life. Just like a butterfly in its cocoon, growth often happens beneath the surface—hidden, patient, and full of promise.

Here at Mustard Seed Farm & Market, we’ve been in a bit of our own “cocoon season.” Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on our trailer, reimagining what’s next, and leaning into new directions with faith and intention. It may not all be visible yet, but something beautiful is taking shape.

This Easter reminds us that renewal is real, hope is alive, and transformation is always at work—even when we can’t quite see it yet.

He is risen—and so are new beginnings. 🌱🦋

We put this beautiful weather and a full weekend to good use ☀️✨

The bronze is going up, and the ceiling inside the trailer is starting to take on a whole new look. What was once plain is now warm, reflective, and full of character—one more step toward bringing this trailer to life.

There’s something special about working with your hands on a day like this and seeing real progress take shape.

Follow along—we’re getting closer with every step. 🚐🌼

Today we recognize World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

As we continue renovating our trailer, we’re especially mindful of the opportunity it represents—to create meaningful, hands-on work and a welcoming space for adults with special needs. Inclusion isn’t an add-on to this project; it’s part of the foundation we’re building from the ground up.

Today is a reminder to celebrate the abilities, contributions, and individuality of people with Down syndrome and to continue creating spaces where everyone is valued and included.

💙 Wear your bright or mismatched socks
💛 Celebrate differences
💙 Choose inclusion—in big ways and small

The votes are in… and bronze it is. ✨

Those metallic paints we shared earlier had a special purpose—gilding the ceiling inside our trailer. We chose bronze to bring a little warmth and character to the space while keeping the natural, earthy feel we’re going for.

It’s amazing how small details can completely change a space. What used to be a plain trailer ceiling is now starting to feel like something special.

Thanks to everyone who guessed and shared their favorite color! Follow along as more pieces come together. 🚐🌼

Busy bees over here 🐝

We’ve officially begun fleshing out the inside of the trailer, and it’s exciting to see the vision starting to take shape. What was once an empty shell is slowly becoming a space designed for flowers, coffee, learning, and connection.

Like bees building a hive, we’re working step by step to create something purposeful and welcoming for our community.

Follow along—there’s so much more to come. 🌼

Goodbye purple, hello fresh start. 🎨🚐

Barney made a trip to the paint shop and came back completely transformed—from bold purple to a soft off-white/cream that sets the stage for what’s to come. This new look gives us a clean, bright canvas as we continue turning this 1970s horse trailer into a mobile flower & coffee bar with pollinator education and inclusive work opportunities.
Watching this transformation reminds us how powerful a fresh coat of paint (and a fresh vision) can be. We can’t wait to show you what’s next.

Step one: clearing it out. 🚐🧹
Every renovation starts with making space. Today, that meant emptying years of dust, debris, and leftover materials from this 1970s horse trailer so we can begin reimagining it as our pollinator promoting mobile flower & coffee bar!
It’s messy. It’s dusty. And it’s exactly where transformation begins.
Follow along as we take this trailer from purple and well-loved to purposeful and ready for what’s next.

We’re excited to finally share a project that’s been taking shape behind the scenes. 🌱
This purple 1970s horse trailer—affectionately called 💜 Barney 💜—is being renovated into something entirely new: a mobile flower, sweet treat and coffee bar with pollinator education at its heart.
This project is about more than what it will serve - but WHO it will serve.
The trailer is also being designed to create meaningful work opportunities for adults with special needs, offering a space where learning, creativity, and community come together.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the renovation process step by step—from the early clean-out to the final details.
Follow along as this trailer is transformed into a space built for inclusion, education, and connection.
