Interfaith Community Clinic

Interfaith Community Clinic Mission: Providing medical care, dental care, counseling and patient service assistance to uninsured in Montgomery County.

Founded by Dr. Joel Kerschenbaum, the South County Community Clinic, dba Interfaith Community Clinic (ICC) opened its doors in 1996 to meet the medical needs of the uninsured population. As the needs of the community have grown, so have the services offered at the clinic. Today, the clinic continues to provide quality basic medical and dental care, counseling and patient services to individuals in need. A volunteer staff of licensed physicians, nurses, medical providers, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, as well as translators and support personnel work together to provide patient care. Interfaith Community Clinic encourages patients to make a dontation as a contribution to their care. Patient services will not be denied if a client is unable to do so. Programs are provided free of charge and are funded by the generous financial support of grants, faith based organizations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals.

National Nonprofit Day is a reminder of why the Interfaith Community Clinic exists: because everyone deserves quality healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay.

For nearly 30 years, our doors have been open to neighbors who may otherwise have nowhere to turn for healthcare. Behind every visit is a person, a family and a story, and the opportunity to make someone feel seen, supported and cared for during a vulnerable time.

We are incredibly grateful for the doctors, nurses, counselors, volunteers, donors and partners who give so generously of themselves to make that care possible.

To everyone who has walked through our doors, volunteered their time, shared their talents or supported our mission, thank you for being part of the heart of the Interfaith Community Clinic.

July is UV Safety Awareness Month!

Summer is the perfect time for pool days, family barbecues, and fun in the sun but don't forget to protect your skin while you're making memories!

✔️ Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
✔️ Reapply every two hours (and after swimming or sweating).
✔️ Wear UV-blocking sunglasses to help protect your eyes.
✔️ When possible, seek shade during the hottest part of the day.

A few simple steps can help prevent sunburn, reduce your risk of skin cancer, and keep your skin healthy for years to come.

Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy your summer!

MYTH: Only people who eat sugar get diabetes.
FACT: Diabetes is influenced by many factors including genetics, lifestyle, activity levels, and overall health.

Understanding your risk factors and prioritizing regular checkups can help you take control of your health and wellness. Small healthy choices each day can make a big difference over time.

At Interfaith Community Clinic, we are committed to helping our community stay informed, healthy, and supported through accessible healthcare services

Sleep is essential for more than just feeling rested. 😴💙

While you sleep, your body is actively working to restore and protect your health:
• Your brain processes memories and information
• Your immune system strengthens to help fight illness
• Your heart rate and blood pressure regulate
• Your body repairs muscles and tissues
• Hormones that control stress, mood, hunger, and energy rebalance
• Quality sleep can improve focus, mental health, and overall wellbeing

Adults should aim for 7–9 hours of consistent sleep each night to support long-term health.

This week, we said goodbye to a very special member of our Interfaith Community Clinic family.

Over the past year, Kate has served as a Medical Assistant with compassion, dedication, and a genuine heart for helping others. Whether caring for patients, supporting our medical team, or offering a kind smile, Kate has made a lasting impact on everyone she has encountered.

While we will miss her greatly, we are incredibly excited to celebrate her next chapter as she heads to North Carolina to begin medical school. We have no doubt that the same kindness, intelligence, and commitment she has shown here at the clinic will make her an exceptional physician.

Please join us in wishing Kate endless success, happiness, and fulfillment as she follows her dreams. Thank you, Kate, for all you have given to our patients and our community. We are so proud of you and can't wait to see all that you accomplish!
