New reef going right into our backyard!
π Conservation in Action π "New artificial reef begins construction off coast by Sea Rim State Park"
π¬ "The reef, named HI-54 Shallow, is being built about two miles off the coast by Sea Rim State Park in Sabine Pass. When completed, it will be 20 acres."
π¬ "The reef was made possible from a donation from the Coastal Conservation Association and other partnersβ donation of deployment materials. The materials used to build the artificial reef consists of obsolete concrete and metal pieces that would otherwise sit in a landfill and serve no purpose."
CCA Texas is immensely proud to work on this important project that will provide critical habitat for our marine resources and give recreational anglers the opportunity to fish a nearshore reef. A very special thank you to Texas Parks and Wildlife's Texas Parks and Wildlife Artificial Reef Program and Friends of Sabine Reefs for their hard work turning this project into a reality. Additionally, huge thanks to Cheniere Energy Inc., Port Arthur LNG, Sempra, Valero Energy, Motiva Enterprises, and Golden Pass LNG whose support makes this reef possible!
