Success Sunday! TRANSPORT (fri)YAY!
Lily is going to BLOOM in Minnesota!🌸
She decided the August heat was just too much and she is joining four of her sisters and brothers who transported last month with our marvelous partner Ruff Start Rescue.💞

Thanks to Lily's rescuer/foster and her transport foster for being the bridge to her happy ever after. Safe travels and happy tails, Lily, we ❤️ you!

P.S. The last picture is her sister Peony's adoption day last weekend. 😍

These growing babies are still in need of a foster home! 🥹

Meet Lucy, Ziggy, and Clementine: sweet, shy kitties who are big on playtime - like feather toys and little pouncey sessions ⚽️ 🧶 And yes, they're good with dogs 🐶 🤝🐱 which is a major W if you've got a pup who's friendly (or at least curious)!

Fostering isn't "keeping them forever" (unless you fall in love - no judgement) ❤️ 🏡 It's giving them stability while they figure out their next chapter, and that helps a ton!

Meet Ishkabibble: a tiny tabby boy is an expert in having absolutely zero responsibilities. 🐾

Found under a car after a bad storm, Ishkabibble perfectly embodies the spirit his name: “I don’t worry.” And this certified lover boy takes that philosophy seriously.

He’s a playful, affectionate stage five clinger who will happily become your tiny furry shadow. He loves other cats, respects their boundaries, and is socialized with large, well behaved dogs. Basically, he’s ready to be your personal blood pressure reducer. 🤎

We would like to express our deep gratitude to Shawneea Harrell, owner and groomer at The Bubble Club Dog Grooming Salon, for rescuing our escapee Nacho yesterday (and giving him a complimentary bath while he waited to collected by his very-relieved foster!).

Clearly he has no regrets 🤣.

Anyone in the HEIGHTS area, please be on the lookout for NACHO – he escaped from his sleepover this morning (Wednesday Aug. 19 at 8am near the corner of Durham & 20th Streets in 77008). Please help us get him back to his soon-to-be forever home!

For centuries, myths have portrayed black cats as symbols of “bad luck,” but in reality, those stories don’t hold up. ❌🧠 Black cats (also lovingly called house panthers) can be incredibly sweet, affectionate, and full of personality—just like any other cat. 😺🖤 Their sleek dark coats and striking eyes give them a wild, regal look, yet their hearts are just as warm as anyone else’s. 🖤🌟

Happy Caturday! Did you know? 🐱

AJL doesn’t just rescue and find homes for local cats and dogs. We also support TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts to help manage Houston’s feral cat population.

A local Girl Scout and animal lover created this educational video about Houston’s cat overpopulation to help raise funds for AJL. 💙 🧡
