We are sooooooo back!! QUEENs of Houston invites you all to join us for a drag storytelling event we are co-hosting on Saturday, May 9th from 2pm to 5pm with ***rsforpalestinehtx and ***restuaries ❤️‍🔥✊🏾🇵🇸

This event is open to all ages!

The purpose of the program is to address the importance of drag culture to Q***r culture, and to emphasize the inhumanity of anti-Q***r policies such as the recently implemented drag ban (SB 12).

We are also fundraising for our parent organization, Save Our Sisters United (SOSU) as well as Q***rs for Palestine HTX. Setup for the event will begin at 1pm, so please DM us if you would like to volunteer and help us with setup/breakdown or tabling 🫶🏾🥰

If you would like to donate/sponsor the event and help us in supporting local drag performers, then please use the following links to contribute to our mother organization directly:

Cashapp: $SOSUINC

As our community continues to navigate the constant anti-LGBTQ policies that are pushed by the Texas state government and the federal government, we must continue to create and maintain programs that help us grow closer, become more organized, and provide material support the people in our communities that are the most impacted. And we can only sustain that work as a COMMUNITY 🫶🏾🤞🏾

QUEENs (Q***r Unified Emergency and Empowerment Network) of Houston is a Black Trans led coalition of LGBTQ+ serving organizations based in the Houston area. Our mission is to proactively support and empower LGBTQIA+ organizations to ensure effective, inclusive, and equitable emergency and crisis response strategies for Houston’s LGBTQIA+ community–with a focus on the hyper-marginalized.

Our work has mostly focused on building up collective q***r power through coalition, and we base our efforts on the pursuit of q***r justice - meaning that we recognize that we must strive to TRANSform the patriarchal, racist, and transphobic systems of oppression that are currently dominant in our society. Not just because of the sacrifices made by our Trans ancestors, and not just for the sake of being visible- but because Trans people, like all people, are entitled to a life of dignity, self-determination, and autonomy.

Don’t just strive to make sure that Trans people are visible in the community, but do everything you can to protect the right for Trans people to EXIST 🩷🩵🤍💜✊🏾

Happy New Year! ✨🤲🏾❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷🤍🤎🩵🖤

This year, we will be using a form to keep track of and help organize the many LGBTQ+ servicing events and programs that are held in the greater Houston and surrounding areas. This way it could be easier for our community to plan for and attend the events that are meant to build up and connect our communities to the many organizations that are in our city.

If you are a part of an organization and/or organizing an event that caters to or serves the LGBTQ+ community in and around the Greater Houston area, please fill out this form so that we may add the event to our calendar. Submissions are due at least 48 hours in advance of the 1st day of the next month.

(Since this is the new year, we will be keeping the form open to submissions for January 2026 until the 4th of the month!)

We hope this resource serves our community well and makes everyone’s year feel wayyyyy more fulfilling 😌

Save Our Sisters United and QUEENs of Houston offices will be closed and our staff will be on a holiday break starting tomorrow, December 20th, until January 5, 2026! 🎄✨🎆

While we may not be available to respond to emails and DMs immediately, we do have a few more planned announcements and updates that we will be sharing via our social media and newsletter, so be on the lookout for those messages as we close out the chaotic yet clarifying year that has been 2025.

That being said, we wish everyone in our LGBTQ+ family a Happy Holidays and New Year! We will see you all again in 2026, and hopefully this period of rest allows us to return with a greater capacity to do the work we all need to do in order to make our city a safer and more humane place for all of us 🤲🏾❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Thank you to our community and our coalition members for showing up for Reign In Paradise in commemoration of Transgender Day of Remembrance 💜 At a time where attacks against transgender people are too frequent and the names and stories of our trans and gender non-conforming siblings are constantly being erased, it is up to us to preserve the dignity, value, and fullness of the lives we have lost too soon to violence; wether systemic or interpersonal.

We are especially appreciative of who performed her piece “We Will Save Ourselves” prior to our panel discussion.

Thank you again to our panelist from that brought a very grounding presence and insight to the space ✨🙏🏾

Thank you to our coalition members for helping setup the displays and joining us for the vigil and panel discussion.

Lastly, we want to thank for hosting us 🩵

There is no way for us to continue struggling for the human rights and dignity of Trans and non-binary people without the support of our community, so we hope that everyone continues to be present and advocate for us beyond Trans Day of Remembrance so that there are less and less names and stories for us to mourn as the years pass ✊🏾🤍🩷🩵💜❤️

We honor our MOTHER and now ancestor, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, who transitioned yesterday (October 13, 2025) after dedicating her life to struggling for the human rights of Trans and all LGBTQ+ people.

From Stonewall to the House of GG, her determination to create a world safe for trans and gender non-conforming people is reflected in the fact that we’re all “still fu***ng here!”

Our founder and co-chair, shares this reflection about her transition:

Sometimes the winning is in the moment of standing still. Thank you for your dedication to movement. Although your journey has come to its final stop, your story will continue to travel: touching and empowering the lives of others.”

Rest in Power ❤️✊🏾🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Make all the memos you want and call us everything except by our name! It don’t matter what they say to try to make us retreat and hide who we truly are, because babyyyyyy we OUT FOR GOOD!!!

Thank you again to for honoring our founder and co-chair with the 2025 LGBTQ+ Visionary Award, because we know first hand the hardwork and sacrifices she has made for our community and she deserves ALL the flowers ❤️💐🙏🏾

On September 21st, we co-hosted an International Day of Peace commemoration at HQ alongside some fantastic community organizers ❤️✊🏾

The event included speeches from , speed networking, sign making, voter registration, and some fine vibes curation by the very talented

We would like to thank everyone that came out to uplift our interconnected struggles for peace, liberation, and humanity! We would especially like to express our appreciation to the other great community organizations that participated in the speed networking and directly connected with community - providing opportunities for people to organize around the issues that affect them and the people they love. Including:

We all know that our human rights, including LGBTQ+ civil rights, reproductive freedom, Palestinian liberation, immigrant rights, and voter protections, are all threatened by the same oppressive systems. So the only way for us to be free is to UNIFY against these systems, demanding that ALL of our rights are protected and that ALL PEOPLE ARE FREE.

Thank you to everyone that was able to attend our LGBTQ+ Disaster Prep Meeting and Resource Drive last Tuesday, co-hosted by our member organizations: , , and ! Also, BIG THANKS to for hosting us! We assembled 40 bags of disaster prep kits, provided tips for how to plan for the hurricane season, and discussed many other ways that our communities are currently being threatened.

However, this is just the beginning of our efforts to bring our community together. We believe it is vital to coalition-build and organize around various emergencies and threats to our community, including: acts of violence, natural disasters, public health crises, and anti-LGBTQ+ laws & legislation. QUEENs of Houston cannot do the work of building a coalition and consolidating the people power of our greater LGBTQ+ community without your support!
Here are some other ways that you could help us and several member organizations with QUEENs of Houston:

-Donate to our Amazon Wishlist so that we could distribute more disaster prep kits (via linktree in our bio).
-If you are part of an organization, fill out an interest form to become a member of our coalition (via linktree in our bio).
-Share and attend our next event + learn more about our organizing committee

We hope to see y’all again soon!
