A huge THANK YOU to our Awesome Vet for fixing Pinto Bean’s Nose so he could breathe better. Just look how open his nostrils are now !! 🤩
Frenchies are brachiocephalic meaning:
Due to their skeletal structure, these dogs are highly predisposed to Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), which causes several anatomical issues:
Narrowed Nostrils: Pinched or tiny nasal openings that restrict airflow.
Elongated Soft Palate: Excess tissue at the back of the roof of the mouth that can block the windpipe.
Tracheal Collapse: A narrow or weak windpipe.
Poor Heat Regulation: Because panting is their primary method of cooling down, they struggle to regulate their body temperature, making them highly susceptible to heatstroke.
Pinto Bean suffered a heat stroke a few weeks ago after getting in to a hot car all while waiting for the ac to cool him down. Unfortunately he couldn’t cool down quick enough because of his narrowed nostrils and having a narrow palate that kept him from getting enough oxygen in.
We think this was actually a blessing in disguise so we could perform this surgery on him to help him be able to breathe properly and never suffer a heat stroke again. Little did we know his trachea is the size of a tiny kitten making it even harder for him to breathe. She doesn’t know how he’s survived this long with these two serious abnormalities going on.
Look at him now! He can breathe so much better. He doesn’t snort and sound like a pig 🐷 anymore. We will definitely miss that piggy sound he used to make. But all of us are so happy he can breathe better.
Thank You Dr. J!
For giving Pinto Bean a new lease on life. We are so thankful & grateful for you. Now he can live a normal life without suffering another heat stroke.
