ORALE is a group of people in the community who saw a need, and joined with others in the community to make a difference.

We are people living in the community, and we believe that through our positive acts, we can change the world for the better. ORALE (Organizers Redefining Activism through Leadership and Education) is a group of people who have come together to make a difference and help fill needs in our community. We believe that through our positive acts, we can change the world for the better, even if it is on

e person at a time. Our two main events at this time are our "Holiday Hopes" at Las Americas Newcomer School and "Prom Night" at the Middle College High School at HCC Gulfton.

Since 2014 with your help, we have been able to provide a welcoming environment for newcomer students with the Holiday Hopes program. This year, with about 300 students, we will have an even greater need. As we are still dealing with COVID-19, we have not gone back to our original event, but still want to provide these kids with gifts that will bring them joy and address some of their needs. We have compiled a wishlist of the most commonly asked for wants as well as items we know are needed. Please join us again in helping to provide a memorable first Christmas and holiday season for these students. You don't have to stick to the wishlist, if you prefer to go out and purchase items yourself, we can arrange donation drop off locations or pick up. It started with a conversation. In 2014, there was a conversation l, and in that conversation it was revealed that when asked what she wanted for Christmas, one little girl asked for bath soap and rice. That is when we knew something had to be done. That year and in the years since, you the community has stepped up and provided these kids with a great experience. With your support we've been able to provide for over 1500 children. Let's keep the tradition going. We know things are difficult, but that also means they are that much more difficult for these children. When we look at the smiles, we know why we do this every year.

is once again hosting “Holiday Hopes” for Las Americas Newcomer School, a middle school that educates recently arrived immigrant and refugee children. Our mission is to provide for 170 students with a welcoming first Christmas! The students come from all over the world and many of them have been in the country for less than a year.
You can help by “sponsoring” a student or certain items!
In years past, if you “sponsored” a child, we would send you a student’s “wish list” and ask that you give a student 2 “needs” gifts and 1 “interest” gifts from their wish list. This year due to COVID 19, we have had to pivot to find a way to provide a great holiday season to the children. Because of the challenges, we have a limited amount of time. We are trying to get all donations in by December 15th. Please show your support for these amazing kids!

Donations can be sent to our PayPal or you can purchase items from our Amazon wish list and they will be sent directly to us to prepare for the kids. Links for both can be found at: linktr.ee/OraleHouston

For over 5 years, we have been connecting these young students in need with sponsors and have had amazing results! You can help by “adopting” or “sponsoring” a student!

If you “adopt” a child, we will send you a student’s “wish list”. We ask that you give a student 2 “needs” gifts and 1 “interest” gifts from their wish list (minimum $50). Gifts are to be wrapped and labeled with the student’s name.

If you sponsor a child, we ask for a $50 minimum donation per child (but we are willing to take donations of any amount!). We will purchase gifts with your donation 

We were so EXCITED to kick this off, we missed a few typos yesterday! Here is the revised flyer.
