About us

Born on May 24th, 1958, Alicia Lee Strain, lived in the small town of White River, South Dakota. Throughout her entire life she had an incredible love for horses, training and rodeo. She grew up helping around the ranch, riding and training horses. Once she married and had her two children, Tony and Ashley, she found herself settled in Simonton, Texas, where Alicia and her husband continued to raise their children around horses and rodeo.

On Mother's Day in 2008, Alicia passed away at the age of 49. She had been fighting breast cancer on and off for 10 years. One of the things people remember the most about her is her love for horses and rodeo and her determination to lead a good life, even when she was battling breast cancer.

Which is why we decided that the best way to honor her memory would be to create a memorial fund to give scholarships to young rodeo athletes. The annual fundraiser, Barrels, Bulldogging & Roping for Bo***es, supports this cause and also contributes to local Breast Cancer support groups and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
