We are almost there.

As of today, FCAC is just about $3,000 away from reaching our $30,000 End of Year goal. With 1 day left in the year, this community has shown up in powerful ways for children and families across Harris County.

This campaign is rooted in prevention and protection. Once a child enters foster care, they spend an average of 900 days in the system. Strong legal and social advocacy can prevent that outcome or help families reunify sooner. That is the work your support makes possible.

Just $1,500 provides the full wraparound legal and social support a child or family needs to stay safely together. And right now, every dollar is still being matched by a generous anonymous donor.

If you have already given, thank you for helping us get this close. If you have been considering a gift, today is the moment. Together, we can finish this campaign strong and step into the new year ready to protect kids and restore families.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30,000 by December 31.

Our attorneys and social services team show up to ensure grief is met with care, not punishment. We advocate so that families are not separated simply because they are struggling after tragedy. We work to keep children safe, supported, and connected when they need it most.

At FCAC, we serve families who are grieving deeply while also navigating the child welfare system. After loss, parents are expected to keep going, to comply, to explain themselves, and to prove their capacity in moments when they are barely holding themselves together. Children are asked to adapt while carrying grief that often has nowhere to go.

Compassion matters most in these moments.

Our attorneys and social services team show up to ensure grief is met with care, not punishment. We advocate so families are not separated simply because they are struggling after tragedy. We work to keep children safe, supported, and connected when they need it most.

This is why our End of Year campaign matters. Just $1,500 provides the full wraparound legal and social support a child or family needs to stay safely together, even in the aftermath of loss.

Right now, every dollar is matched thanks to a generous anonymous donor who committed $30,000 to match gifts dollar for dollar. We have raised $25,409 so far and are just days away from the finish line.

Your support helps ensure compassion is part of the system, even when families are at their most vulnerable.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30,000 by December 31.

Christmas is a day filled with meaning, memory, and hope.

Today, we are thinking about the children and families we serve who are navigating this season with complicated emotions. For many, the holidays bring reminders of loss, separation, and uncertainty alongside moments of joy. At FCAC, our commitment does not pause during the holidays. Advocacy, care, and presence still matter, especially now.

This team continues to show up with steadiness and heart. We work so that more children can experience safety, more families can stay connected, and more futures can remain intact. That work carries extra weight during a season that asks us to reflect on what home, family, and belonging truly mean.

On this Christmas Day, we hold space for hope. Hope for healing. Hope for stability. Hope for a system that better serves children and families with dignity and compassion.

From all of us at Foster Care Advocacy Center, we wish you peace and warmth today and in the days ahead.

Moments like this do not happen by accident. They happen because FCAC shows up, advocates, and refuses to give up on protecting children and restoring families. Being together tonight may not solve everything for these kids, but it means safety, comfort, and belonging when it matters most.

On this Christmas Eve, we are holding this family close and wishing peace to every child who longs to be with the people they love.

We are so close.

Thanks to the generosity of this community, FCAC has raised $23,319 toward our $30,000 End of Year goal. With just 9 days left in the year, we are in the final stretch of a campaign that directly supports children and families across Harris County.

This work matters because once a child enters foster care, they spend an average of more than nine hundred days in the system. Strong early advocacy can prevent that outcome or help families reunify sooner. That is what your support makes possible.

Just $1,500 provides the full wraparound legal and social support a child or family needs to stay safely together. And right now, every dollar is matched thanks to a generous anonymous donor who committed a $30,000 matching gift. The match is still active, but time is running short.

If you have already given, thank you for believing in this work. If you have been waiting for the right moment, this is it. Help us close the gap and finish the year strong.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30,000 by December 31.

Poverty is not neglect. But far too often, families are treated as if it is.

At FCAC, we represent parents who love their children and want what every parent wants. Safety. Stability. A Future. Many of the families we serve are pulled into the child welfare system because of poverty-related challenges, not abuse. Once a child enters foster care, they spend an average of more than 900 days in the system. Getting them back home can take years.

Preventing a child from entering foster care is one of the most powerful forms of protection we can offer. Early legal advocacy, social support, and connection to resources can keep families together and prevent lifelong harm.

That is what your support makes possible.

Just $1,500 provides the full wraparound legal and social support a family needs to stay safely together. Right now, every donation is matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous anonymous donor! To date, we have raised $19,532, which means we are only about $10k away from our goal.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30,000 by December 31st.

The holidays are busy, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming for all of us. For the children and youth FCAC serves, this season can be especially disorienting and heavy.

As Tara shares in this video, many of the kids we work with carry deep trauma into the holidays. They are navigating memories, loss, and uncertainty at a time when the world around them feels louder and faster. Showing up for them matters. Sometimes it is the consistent presence of an attorney or advocate that changes the course of a young person’s life entirely.

One former foster youth recently shared that their attorney is the reason they are not incarcerated or worse today. That is the power of steady advocacy and belief over time.

As you make your lists and check them twice, we hope you will consider including FCAC this season. Your support helps ensure children and youth are not forgotten when it matters most.
And right now every donation is matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous matching grant from an anonymous donor! We are still about $20k short of our goal, will you help?

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30k by December 31st!

School is often the first thing a child loses when their life is disrupted.

In this case, a child was placed with a relative who tried to enroll them in school and was repeatedly denied. Days passed. Then weeks. The child fell behind academically and emotionally at a moment when stability mattered most.

FCAC stepped in to advocate for the child’s right to education. Enrollment was restored and the child returned to school, back into routine, support, and connection.

This work matters. Once a child enters foster care, they spend an average of 900 days in the system. Nearly 3 years of uncertainty. Studies also show that children who experience foster care are far more likely to have future system involvement. Preventing deeper disruption changes the trajectory of a child’s life.

It only takes $1,500 to provide the full wraparound advocacy that protects children and restores families. Right now, every donation is matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous anonymous donor. We have raised about $10k so far, which means we still need $20k to hit our goal.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30k by December 31st.

What a day! FCAC hosted its fifth annual Holiday Toy Drive and nearly one hundred children were able to choose their own gifts at a joyful celebration created just for them. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and community partners, we also provided hot meals, pantry goods, free books, and warm winter clothing to more than one hundred families who are working hard to keep their children safe and stable this season.

Kids spent the day with face painting, crafts, games, and pictures with Santa, all made possible by the incredible leadership of our social services team and the dedication of Parent Partner Matilda Saragosa. The room was filled with laughter, color, and relief. For many of the families we serve, moments like these do not come easily. Your support made it happen.

We are deeply grateful to our title sponsor First Community Credit Union for funding so much of this event, and to Alphalete Gym for donating a huge amount of clothing that was immediately picked up by families who needed it. We also thank La Donita, Pluckers, Ideal Glassworks, Raising Cane’s, Nissi’s Network, United Riders Bike Club, City to City Riderz, and Eight Man Ministries for pouring love and resources into this day. And a very special thank you to Abundantly Blessed Church for hosting us for the second year in a row and welcoming our clients with open arms.

Because of you, children across Harris County felt safe, celebrated, and cared for this holiday season. This is what protecting kids and restoring families looks like.

A newborn was almost placed into foster care when the mother experienced serious medical complications after birth. The father was ready and able to care for the baby, but the system moved quickly and the family suddenly faced the possibility of being separated.

FCAC stepped in to slow everything down. After working with doctors, CPS, and the family, it became clear that the father could safely care for his newborn while the mother recovered. The case was closed and the baby went home where they belonged.

This matters more than most people realize. Once a child enters foster care, they spend an average of nine hundred days in the system. Nearly three years of instability. Studies also show that children who enter CPS custody are far more likely to have future system involvement, including the criminal justice system. Preventing unnecessary removals protects children today and shapes their futures for years to come.

We are grateful to share that FCAC has received a $30,000 matching gift for our End-of-Year campaign. Every donation right now is doubled. We have raised $9,634 so far, and we are still about $20,000 away from reaching our goal.

It takes $1,500 to protect a child and restore a family’s future. Your gift helps make that possible, and the match allows your impact to stretch even further during this critical moment.

Give today to protect kids, restore families, and help FCAC reach $30,000 by December 31st.

Busy day in the office today! Inventory day for all of the toys for our annual holiday toy drive benefiting FCAC clients. And there’s a great example of multidisciplinary representation going on just down the hall.
Thank you to everyone who supports us and especially those who gave on Giving Tuesday! We cannot do this work without you. Thank you for helping us to continue protecting kids and restoring families!
