Troop 1852 strives to deliver the promise of Scouting to all boys through weekly meetings, exciting monthly campouts, and week-long summer camp and high adventure programs which participate in activities such as whitewater rafting or backpacking through the Rockies. We have many registered adult leaders, well trained to work with the scouts safely. All of our adults have had Youth Protection training, and many have completed additional training such as Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, Weather Hazards, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely, Flat Water Canoe, Leave No Trace, COPE and Risk Management. This means the boys select activities and run their program with the support of the committee and guidance from the Scoutmasters. The activities do not always go perfectly; however, the boys review how each activity went after it is completed. This allows the adults to teach or coach the boys so they can improve the next activity. The Scouts learn to be leaders by taking responsibility for ex*****on of the program. The Scouts select the activities and the committee supports them. We actively pursue trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida Sea Base, The Summit Bechtel Reserve, and other high adventure outings and take age-appropriate Scouts when accepted. The troop is also involved in several community service projects each year. Troop 1852 has one enclosed trailer with patrol and troop equipment. This equipment includes tents, camp stoves, lanterns, tables, kitchens, awnings, water containers, first aid kits, ropes, tarps, axes, and saws. Scouts need only the personal gear listed in the Boy Scout Handbook.
