Troop 1852

Troop 1852 The Troop also engages in community service activities on a regular basis. Troop 1852 has about 22 Scouts. Troop 1852 is a boy-led troop.

BSA Troop 1852 is chartered to Southminster Presbyterian Church in Missouri City, Texas, and was founded in November 1974, making it one of the oldest Troops in the Missouri City / Sugar Land area. Troop 1852 is always looking for boys ages 11-17 (or age 10 and graduated 5th grade) to join in the fun of outdoor adventure and leadership development that the Troop provides through Scouting. If you a

re interested in potentially joining, contact Daniel Brunello at [email protected], or call 281-240-4319.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troop 1852 strives to deliver the promise of Scouting to all boys through weekly meetings, exciting monthly campouts, and week-long summer camp and high adventure programs which participate in activities such as whitewater rafting or backpacking through the Rockies. We have many registered adult leaders, well trained to work with the scouts safely. All of our adults have had Youth Protection training, and many have completed additional training such as Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, Weather Hazards, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely, Flat Water Canoe, Leave No Trace, COPE and Risk Management. This means the boys select activities and run their program with the support of the committee and guidance from the Scoutmasters. The activities do not always go perfectly; however, the boys review how each activity went after it is completed. This allows the adults to teach or coach the boys so they can improve the next activity. The Scouts learn to be leaders by taking responsibility for ex*****on of the program. The Scouts select the activities and the committee supports them. We actively pursue trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida Sea Base, The Summit Bechtel Reserve, and other high adventure outings and take age-appropriate Scouts when accepted. The troop is also involved in several community service projects each year. Troop 1852 has one enclosed trailer with patrol and troop equipment. This equipment includes tents, camp stoves, lanterns, tables, kitchens, awnings, water containers, first aid kits, ropes, tarps, axes, and saws. Scouts need only the personal gear listed in the Boy Scout Handbook.

On Saturday, BSA Troop 1852 had a cycling day camp where the scouts set a goal of 15 miles and/or 4 hours of cycling.
The weather was cool and perfect, and Brazos Bend State Park was extraordinary. Scouts got to experience a variety of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, and many different birds.
When everyone started to feel sore and tired, the scouts still chose to push through and go the extra mile to complete their requirement. They could have easily called it quits—but they didn’t.
That perseverance and determination is what truly sets them apart💪👏
One takeaway from this past weekend: not every scouting activity has to be a big production with advance reservations, detailed food planning, or even a trailer. It was a great reminder that simple, low-cost outings planned on short notice can still be incredibly fun and meaningful.
At the end of the day, it’s all about spending quality time together with friends and building strong connections.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Troop 1852! In addition to our regular Tuesday meetings, we wrapped up March with the Scout Orienteering Campout, where we proudly earned 2nd place. We also spent time collecting and sorting donations for our annual garage sale on the 18th.

Yesterday, we held our first Spirit Day at Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse—thank you to everyone who came out to support us, both at the garage sale and the Spirit Day. Your support truly makes a difference and goes a long way for our scouts.

We’re excited to wrap up April with a cycling trip next weekend!

During our last meeting Troop 1852 had the pleasure of welcoming the Order of the Arrow!

Our new Scouts learned about Scouting’s National Honor Society and what it means to live out the Scout Oath and Law through cheerful service. The Arrowmen shared how members are selected, the service they provide, and answered some great questions from our Scouts.

We always enjoy having them visit — thank you to the OA members who took the time to spend the evening with us!

Troop 1852 had a successful Food Drive supporting our community! 🥫💙

On Saturday, 1/24, our Scouts went out into different neighborhoods of Missouri City to distribute flyers, letting residents know about the upcoming food collection. Then on Saturday, 1/31, the Scouts returned to collect donated food items generously given by our community.

We are incredibly proud of our Scouts for their hard work, teamwork, and commitment to helping those in need. A big thank you to everyone who donated and supported this effort—your kindness truly makes a difference! 🙏👏
