If you've been to the Mudzi Gala before, you know the feeling. The mission, the community, the sense that the evening actually means something. That part hasn't changed. But just about everything else has.

This year we went back to the drawing board and asked ourselves: How do we make this the event our guests have always deserved? The answer was a lot of listening, and a lot of work.
We're talking complimentary valet and a brand-new Field Street entrance. A red-carpet arrival with champagne and photos. Wolfgang Puck catering with food stations, passed hors d'oeuvres, and bars on every single floor of the Perot Museum, with two full hours to explore all levels. A new DJ, a new MC, a new auctioneer, a raffle, late-night chicken tenders and desserts, a coffee bar, a complimentary gift for every guest, and centerpieces you actually get to take home.

The mission is still the heart of it. Every ticket purchased, every bid placed, every dance had — it all goes toward healthcare, education, and clean water for families in Malawi. That has never changed, and it never will.

In Malawi, around 3,000 women lose their lives to cervical cancer every year.
Not because treatment doesn't exist — because they never got screened.

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in Malawi. Tragically, most of those deaths are preventable.

The biggest barrier isn't the disease itself — it's access. Many women in rural Malawi have never been screened, never received information about their risk, and live hours away from the nearest clinic.

That's what we're working to change. Our teams go out into communities to bring screenings, education, and care directly to women. With the HPV vaccine, communities can prevent cancer before it has the chance to form.

Right now, we have 1,000 HPV vaccines sitting in storage. We're eager to use them across our communities but have just 3 months until they expire.

Spending the week in Malawi where we are thrilled to see lime trees bearing fruit, fresh maize being dried, and fresh peanuts recently harvested.

The harvest season in Malawi brings renewed hope for the people in rural villages. Though this season did not turn out as well as we had hoped with regard to rainfall, we are still fortunate to have some maize and peanuts (or groundnuts, as they are known here) to harvest. It will sustain the people in our area for a time.

We’re having a great week here and love seeing our Malawian friends.

Access to safe and reliable water is more than a basic need. It is the foundation of healthy, thriving communities. Clean water supports health, education, economic activity, and dignity. A recent bingo event held by Orant Charities US brought people together for fun, and also ended up doing so much more. With every number called, hope was also growing. By the end of the event, over $56,000 USD had been raised to support Orant Charities Africa’s Education Program. We are so grateful for this support that will help students in rural Malawi stay in school, access learning materials, and keep working toward their dreams.
