Welcoming a New Rotarian and Celebrating Our Scholarship Recipients!
This week, Texas City Rotarian Mary Goldner delivered her ‘classification speech’ to the club. A Rotary tradition, Mary explained her professional vocation —Director of TCISD Fine Arts – and how that work has shaped the person Mary is. A natural introvert, 24 years of teaching has helped bring out Mary’s extrovert-side. When she’s not overseeing band, choir, dance, and other arts programs at TCISD, attendees to 1st Baptist Church may also occasionally see Mary playing drums.
Rotarians of Texas City believe investing in our young people is an investment in the future of our community. At our Tuesday club meeting, $54,500 in scholarships was awarded in total, across 11 outstanding local students. These remarkable young people have excelled academically, served others selflessly, and shown the kind of character and determination that make us proud to call them our neighbors. (and hopefully, future Rotarians!)
