At 11 if you lost your entire family what would you do

At 11 If you were captured by a revolutionary army that threatened to kill you what would you do

At 11 if you were forced to take drugs what would you do

At 11 if you were trained to steal and kill what would you do

If at 11, all this happened to you, where would you be today

Let me share with you what this 11 year old is doing today.

His name is Morris Matadi.

Morris survived Liberia’s civil war and circumstances most of us can barely imagine.

But what makes Morris’s story so powerful isn’t only what happened to him.

It’s how he reacted to it.

Morris eventually returned to Liberia. But he didn’t return simply to rebuild his own life.

He returned to help children.

Through IDEFOCS — the Initiative for the Development of Former Child Soldiers — and its work alongside the RILO Foundation, Morris has dedicated himself to helping vulnerable and underprivileged children receive something he desperately needed when he was 11:

An opportunity.

An opportunity to learn.
An opportunity to grow.
An opportunity to believe in themselves.
An opportunity to imagine a future beyond poverty.

Helping Hugs For Children (HHFC) is proud to support this work.

A Prayer of Decree and Declaration for Helping Hugs For Children

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ with gratitude, humility, faith, and expectation.

Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer. Thank You for Your presence, Your mercy, Your wisdom, and Your provision. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, who guides, teaches, comforts, corrects, and leads us according to Your will.

Today, I place Helping Hugs For Children completely into Your hands.

Lord, if this mission is Your will, establish it.

If Helping Hugs For Children is a vessel You desire to use to serve children, strengthen families, restore hope, and change lives, then I ask You to open the doors that no person can shut and close every door that is not from You.

I do not ask You simply to bless my plans.

I ask You to make Your plans my plans.

Give me the wisdom to recognize the difference.

I Decree and Declare

In the name of Jesus Christ, and subject always to the sovereign will of God:

I declare that Helping Hugs For Children belongs to God before it belongs to any person.

I declare that its mission will be guided by compassion, integrity, wisdom, accountability, humility, and love.

I declare that the right people will be drawn to this mission at the right time—people whose hearts, abilities, resources, relationships, and intentions align with God’s purposes.

I declare that God will provide the leadership, board members, volunteers, partners, donors, sponsors, advocates, and resources necessary to accomplish whatever He intends Helping Hugs For Children to accomplish.

Where there are obstacles, Lord, show us the way through them.

Where there is confusion, bring clarity.

Where there is weakness, provide strength.

Where there is discouragement, restore hope.

Where resources are lacking, provide according to Your will.

Where we are moving in the wrong direction, correct us quickly.

And where You open a door, give us the courage to walk through it.

I Declare Provision With Purpose

Father, I ask for financial provision—not for recognition, possessions, or personal gain, but so that more children can be served.

May every dollar entrusted to Helping Hugs For Children be treated as a responsibility before You.

Protect this organization from greed, pride, waste, dishonesty, division, and anything that would compromise its mission.

Give us wisdom to build something sustainable—something that empowers rather than creates dependency, restores dignity rather than taking it away, and creates opportunities that can continue from generation to generation.

I Declare Protection and Discernment

Lord, place Your protection over Helping Hugs For Children, its leadership, its partners, its volunteers, its supporters, and especially the children and families we serve.

Give us discernment concerning every partnership, every opportunity, every financial decision, and every person who enters this mission.

Holy Spirit, make Your direction unmistakable.

When we should move, tell us to move.

When we should wait, give us patience.

When we should speak, give us the words.

When we should remain silent, give us restraint.

When something is not Your will, give us the humility to release it.

I Declare That the Mission Is Greater Than Us

Father, remind us continually that Helping Hugs For Children is not about buildings, organizations, titles, recognition, or names.

It is about people.

It is about a child discovering that poverty does not have to determine their future.

It is about education.

It is about dignity.

It is about opportunity.

It is about hope.

It is about showing love through action.

Let every child touched by this mission know that their life has value, their dreams matter, and their circumstances today do not have to define their tomorrow.

And Father, I Surrender the Outcome

This is my desire, Lord—but Your will is greater than my desire.

If You want Helping Hugs For Children to grow, then grow it beyond anything I could accomplish through my own strength.

If You want it to change direction, show me the direction.

If You want me to wait, teach me patience.

If You want me to release something I have been holding onto, give me the courage to release it.

And if Your purpose for Helping Hugs For Children is different from what I imagine, then let Your purpose prevail.

I would rather walk slowly with You than run quickly without You.

So today I decree and declare:

God’s will above my will.
God’s timing above my timing.
God’s wisdom above my understanding.
God’s provision above my resources.
God’s purpose above my plans.
God’s glory above our recognition.

May Helping Hugs For Children become everything You intend it to become—and nothing You do not.

Father, thank You for listening to my prayer.

Jesus, thank You for hearing the desires of my heart and for allowing me to bring them before the Father.

Holy Spirit, thank You for listening, guiding, correcting, strengthening, and remaining with me.

Thank You for what You have already done.

Thank You for what You are doing even when I cannot see it.

And thank You for what You will do according to Your perfect will.

I place Helping Hugs For Children, its future, its children, its partners, its leadership, its needs, its opportunities, and myself into Your hands.

Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done.

I believe.

I trust.

I surrender.

And I will follow wherever You lead.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

Jamshed Mirov — Director & Vice President
Charlene Helms — Director & Secretary
Building the HHFC of Tomorrow
HHFC began with a simple belief: children living in poverty deserve more than temporary assistance. They deserve opportunities that can help them build better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
As we move from a primarily grassroots organization toward a stronger and more sustainable nonprofit, we need leaders who bring complementary skills to the table.
Jamshed brings nonprofit strategy, partnerships, fundraising, communications, and international development experience.
Charlene brings operational structure, accountability, organization, and ex*****on.
Together, they strengthen our ability to turn compassion into sustainable impact.
We are grateful they have chosen to bring their experience, leadership, and hearts for service to the next chapter of HHFC.
As HHFC continues its mission of empowering underprivileged children through education, dignity, opportunity, and sustainable solutions, strengthening our leadership is an important part of building the organization needed to expand that impact.

Meet Jamshed Mirov
Jamshed brings extensive nonprofit and international development experience in strategic planning, fundraising, donor and partnership management, monitoring and evaluation, communications, financial planning, and organizational leadership.
His career has included work with organizations and initiatives involving the Aga Khan Development Network, Aga Khan Foundation, USAID, Mission East, international donors, government stakeholders, and community organizations.
He has also completed the Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership Program at Rice University and currently serves as a Social Welfare Board Member for the Southwest Region of Texas at the National Council of Ismaili.
As Director & Vice President, Jamshed's experience will help HHFC strengthen strategic planning, develop partnerships, expand donor relationships, improve organizational capacity, and create sustainable pathways for growth.

Meet Charlene Helms
Charlene brings more than 35 years of executive experience in global supply chain management, procurement, logistics, compliance, operations, process improvement, and team development.
Throughout her career, she has built operational systems from the ground up, managed complex international supply chains, negotiated significant cost savings, improved accountability, and led teams across challenging environments.
As Director & Secretary, Charlene brings the organizational discipline, operational experience, attention to detail, and leadership necessary to help HHFC strengthen its governance and internal structure as we grow.
Her experience is especially valuable to an organization like HHFC, where every dollar, every resource, and every decision must ultimately translate into greater impact for the children and communities we serve.
