Not every bark means aggression. 🐶

Over the weekend our youth learned about barrier frustration. Safe, controlled off leash introductions, often allow dogs to communicate more naturally and build positive relationships. Learning to read canine body language is an important skill for both the dogs and our youth.

✨Tidbit Tuesday: Dogs communicate primarily through body language. barriers, like leashes, fences or doors can sometimes prevent them from using their normal social signals effectively causing Barrier Frustration. Remember always set your dog up for success. 💙🐶

The sweetest moment CLP could have asked for. 💙

A huge thank you to our youth for working so diligently and patiently with our boy, Dawson. As our longest CLP resident, he was also one of the dogs who needed us the most.

Over the years, I’ve watched Dawson help build confidence in youth who never believed they had it. I’ve seen him provide comfort to youth who struggled to regulate their emotions. And I’ve watched him learn to trust humans again.

All of the hard work, patience, and dedication poured into Dawson led to this incredible moment, finding his forever home.

Dawson, your CLP family is going to miss you dearly, bubs. We know you’re going to bring endless happiness, love, and laughter to your new family. Thank you for everything you’ve taught us along the way. 🐾💙

Happy National Rescue Dog Day! 🐾

Today is a great reminder of how special rescue dogs are — and how much joy they bring to a family. Our family dog, Duke, is a rescue, and we’re so grateful he found his way to us. He’s loyal, loving, and has become a big part of our home (and our hearts).

If you’ve ever thought about adding a dog to your family, consider adopting. You might be saving a life — and gaining a best friend. 💙🐶

The youth learned that dogs mirror the energy around them. When handlers stay calm, patient and confident dogs are more likely to respond the same way. Through training sessions, the youth saw firsthand how their body language, tone and emotions, directly impact their dogs, behavior, and trust. 🐶

Facts: Dogs naturally read human body language and emotions to understand situations. Did you know that this is called interspecies communication.💙🐶
