This Week on Road to Hope Radio with David Maulsby

Join us this Wednesday as we welcome Army Veteran Matthew Lunsford of Buford, Georgia, who will share his powerful journey from combat, struggle, and despair to hope and healing.

Matthew served as an 11B Infantryman with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. After returning home, he faced the invisible wounds of war, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. He battled nightmares, hyper-vigilance, and alcohol abuse for years. Following a relapse, his wife helped him find the PTSD Foundation of America | Camp Hope, where he arrived in January 2026 with little hope for the future. In Matthew’s own words, “I didn’t have any hopes when I first got here.”

Now, Matthew is experiencing something he never thought possible, the restoration of hope, purpose, and faith. Tune in as he shares how Camp Hope has helped him rebuild his life, reconnect with God, and begin a new chapter of healing.

Don’t miss this inspiring conversation on Road to Hope Radio, hosted by David Maulsby, where real Veterans share real stories of transformation and recovery.

A Place to Be Heard, Understood, and Supported

For many women Veterans, one of the hardest parts of the journey after service is feeling like no one truly understands.

That’s why every Wednesday at 7:30 PM, women Veterans from across the nation come together for our Female Warrior Group, a supportive community built on trust, understanding, and shared experience.

Whether you're facing the effects of PTSD, adjusting to life after the military, struggling with anxiety, or simply looking to connect with others who have walked a similar path, this group offers a place where you can be yourself.

No judgment. No expectations. Just genuine support from women who understand.

- Wednesdays at 7:30 PM
- Attend in person or virtually
- Open to women Veterans seeking connection, encouragement, and healing

Because healing doesn't happen in isolation, it happens in community.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

As we reflect on the true meaning of this day, we also remember the families, friends, and fellow service members who carry their legacy forward each and every day.

In observance of Memorial Day, the PTSD Foundation of America | Camp Hope will be closed on Monday, May 26th. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday.

Today and always, we remember our fallen heroes.

This week on Road to Hope Radio, hosted by David Maulsby, we sit down with Army Veteran Steve Sayed from the Bronx, New York, alongside fellow Army Veteran Matthew, who served in Afghanistan in 2013.

Steve joined the Army Reserves in 2001, and on the morning of 9/11, he witnessed history unfold from his own neighborhood, seeing the smoke from the World Trade Center and watching the second plane strike the towers. Not long after, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, helping build up and launch operations during the beginning of the war.

But the battles didn’t end when he returned home.

Steve opens up about the unseen wounds he carried for years, PTSD, depression, anxiety, survivor’s guilt, substance abuse, and bipolar disorder. He shares how those struggles impacted his life and relationships, including the painful moment when his mother told him, “You’re not the same.”

Everything changed after a conversation with his 18-year-old son, who asked him:
“Dad, what are you going to do with your life?”

That question became the turning point that led Steve to Camp Hope earlier this year and started his journey toward healing and restoration.

Don’t miss this powerful and honest conversation about service, struggle, hope, and redemption.

This week on Road to Hope Radio with David Maulsby, we are honored to share the story of combat Veteran Ryan Martin alongside Christopher Peters. Ryan served in the United States Marine Corps and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, earning honors including the Afghan Campaign Medal with 2 Stars, Sea Service Medal, and Good Conduct Award.

Like many Veterans, Ryan returned home carrying the unseen wounds of war. He openly shares his struggles with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, as well as the difficult journey of trying to rediscover purpose after military service. During the show, Ryan and Petey discuss how triggers can impact Veterans differently. For Petey, certain smells bring back memories, while for Ryan, sounds can instantly take him back to combat.

Ryan also reflects on one of the most meaningful parts of his deployment: working with his hands and serving alongside his fellow Marines. After years of battling alcohol and opioid abuse while searching for direction, Ryan says that during his two months at Camp Hope, he is beginning to find healing through healthier coping skills, renewed faith, and rebuilding his relationship with God.

Don’t miss this powerful and honest conversation about struggle, resilience, and hope. Stories like Ryan’s remind us that healing is possible and no Veteran has to fight alone.

Last month, Camp Hope proudly celebrated the graduation of 10 incredible Veterans, 9 Soldiers, and 1 Marine, who courageously committed themselves to the journey of healing and restoration.

These men came from different backgrounds, but they shared one mission: to reclaim their lives and refuse to let their past define their future. Through grit, vulnerability, and brotherhood, they supported one another, faced difficult battles head-on, and grew stronger together.

Congratulations to our April graduates. Your courage, resilience, and determination inspire us all, and we cannot wait to see what comes next for each of you.

This week on Road to Hope Radio, hosted by David Maulsby, we are honored to share the story of Veteran Nathan Rea (pronounced Ray).

Nathan served in the U.S. Army from 2003 to 2014 as a 19 Kilo Armor Crewman/Tanker, deploying to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. Like so many of our nation’s warriors, the unseen wounds of war followed him home. After years of battling PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety, TBI, and substance abuse, Nathan found his way to the PTSD Foundation of America | Camp Hope in early 2026.

Now, Nathan is working toward healing by reconnecting with his faith, rebuilding his life, and discovering renewed purpose through the program.

Joining him on this journey to the station is Kip Bonds, a Camp Hope graduate turned mentor, who continues to pour back into the lives of fellow Veterans by helping them stay committed to the work of healing and hope.

Stories like Nathan’s remind us that recovery is possible, no matter how dark the road may seem. Don’t miss this powerful conversation about resilience, redemption, and the journey home.
