2021 Scout Shabbat patch for In-Person Attendance2021
Scout Shabbat patch for Virtual Attendance
Join Scouts from across the country this year to celebrate the anniversary of Scouting in the U.S. with a service available both in-person and virtually via Zoom. This is a great opportunity for Scouts across the country to make this an especially grand celebration by gathering in large numbers.
This event is a celebration of all Scouting. You are invited if you are in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Exploring, Sea Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire, or any other youth group. While this is obviously a Jewish service, this is an open invitation to those of any religion. Please invite your friends to join us.
The Boy Scouts of America was formed on February 8, 1910. To celebrate Scouting's anniversary, Muslim Scouts celebrate Scout Jumuah while Christian Scouts celebrate Scout Sunday. We celebrate Scout Shabbat. This year, many Scout Shabbat celebrations will be virtual while others will be in person. Join us at Temple Beth Chai of Hauppauge for our first national virtual Scout Shabbat celebration. Our celebration recognizes the timeless values of Scouting and honors all Jewish Scouts throughout the country who have completed the requirements for a religious emblem, the Eagle rank, the Gold Award, the Silver Award and the Quartermaster Award during the past year. We welcome the Girl Scouts of the USA to celebrate with us.
This year's Virtual Scout Shabbat is sponsored by the National Jewish Committee on Scouting, the Northeast Region Jewish Committee on Scouting, the Suffolk County Jewish Committee on Scouting and Temple Beth Chai.
If you will be attending in person, the service will be held at:
Temple Beth Chai
870 Townline Road
Hauppauge, NY 11788
Check with Temple Beth Chai in advance to check on its Covid-19 practices.
If you will be attending virtually, the log-on information will be sent out via email the day before the service
Scout Shabbat will be held on February 5-6, 2021 to coincide with the founding date of the Boy Scouts of America on February 8, 1910.
