Please join us in welcoming Krista to The Champion Project Board of Directors as our new Treasurer.  Krista brings an incredible combination of financial expertise, community involvement, and a heart for supporting local youth. She holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from Baylor University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), with more than 30 years of professional financial experience, including 20 years as the Controller for EW Healthcare Partners.
Alongside her corporate career, Krista has dedicated years to supporting youth and education. Her leadership roles included serving as President and Treasurer of high school booster clubs and Treasurer for a local scouting organization. She has also volunteered in classrooms and PTO programs to support local schools.
A resident of The Woodlands for more than three decades, Krista is deeply rooted in our local community. She is excited to join The Champion Project because she believes every youth deserves a stable foundation and strong community advocates to champion their future.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Krista enjoys spending time with her husband and supporting her children through their college years.  We are so grateful to have Krista joining our Board and look forward to all she will bring to The Champion Project!

Back-to-School Shopping: Mission Accomplished!
We’ve officially wrapped up our back-to-school shopping for all of our partner homes—and we couldn’t have done it without YOU!
Thanks to our incredible donors and volunteers, more than 100 foster youth had the opportunity to shop for new clothes and shoes and choose items that fit their needs, reflect their personalities, and make them excited for the school year ahead.
For the youth, this experience is about so much more than new clothes. It’s about making their own choices, expressing their individuality, and experiencing the joy of picking out something that is truly theirs.
We are so grateful to every donor who helped make this possible and to every volunteer who gave their time to make shopping day special. Because of your generosity, these young people are heading into a new school year feeling seen, valued, and loved.
Thank you for helping us Love Big. Change Lives. 💙

HELP US EQUIP OUR VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE WELL. 💙

At The Champion Project, we believe great mentors need more than a willing heart—they need the right tools and training.

That’s why we provide ongoing Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) training, equipping our volunteers to build trust, understand challenging behaviors, support emotional regulation, and create safe, healthy relationships with youth in foster care.

Every volunteer is required to participate in at least one in-person TBRI training each year, with additional training throughout the year to refresh skills and introduce new strategies.

The need: $250 per training session
Our goal: 6 sessions each year—2 for new volunteers + 4 refresher trainings

Will you help fund a training session? Your gift equips the people who show up for youth week after week with the knowledge and confidence to serve them well.

To give, visit thechampionproject.org/donate and mention “TBRI Training” in the donation comments.

Want to join our Champion family?

Here’s what your monthly gift can make possible:
💙 $25/month — Funds training for our volunteers
💙 $50/month — Provides special & unique outings for youth
💙 $100/month — Enables 6 youth to go back-to-school shopping each year
💙 $250/month — Pays for one youth in our tutoring program
💙 $500/month — Pays for one youth in our mentoring program

Any amount makes a difference. When you give monthly, you help us plan ahead, grow our programs, and be there for youth all year long.
