June is National PTSD Awareness Month 🎗️🧠

A month to honor those who served and recognize that some battles don’t end when service does. For those suffering with PTSD, a service animal could be the key to recovery!

We love any excuse to celebrate our amazing pups. 🐾 Today, we’re especially proud of Hailey & Porter for the incredible work they do every day. None of it would be possible without the ongoing support of Queener Law - Denver and Sierra Container Group. We’re so grateful for you! 💖

We are heartbroken to share the passing of Justice, Chris B’s beloved service dog. While his loss is deeply felt, we'd like to focus on the incredible joy, comfort, and companionship he brought to so many people.

Justice started out with plans to be a drug-sniffing dog for the Texas Department of Corrections, but life had a different plan for him. Their loss was our gain! Smart, loyal, a quick learner, and full of love, Justice found his true purpose alongside Chris, becoming not only a service dog, but a best friend and beloved member of the family.

Justice brightened people’s days everywhere he went. He will be remembered for the sweet boy he was and the love he gave so freely.

We’re keeping Chris and his family in our thoughts and sending them love during this difficult time. ❤️

Summer is almost here ☀️ Time for a well-deserved getaway! As you plan your trips, keep these pointers in mind so it's stress-free for both you and your service dog.

In today’s we’re teaching the under command. Follow the steps below and your pup will be trained in no time!

1️⃣ Start with your dog next to you
2️⃣ Hold a treat and guide them under a chair or table
3️⃣ Reward them once they move underneath
4️⃣ Add the cue “under” as they go into position
5️⃣ Practice having them stay calmly in that spot

This skill helps service dogs settle under tables, desks, or chairs in public places like restaurants or waiting rooms. It keeps them close to their handler while staying out of walkways and minimizing distractions. It also helps dogs stay calm and relaxed in busy environments, which is a key part of public access training. 🐾

Our sweet Mikey has officially started his next chapter as Trish’s service dog! Over the past four days, the two trained together in public settings, building skills and getting to know each other, and it was love at first sight. Mikey is already settling into Trish’s routine and enjoying life with his two new kitty brothers.

A special thank you to Bionic Penguin/Keith Snyder for making this journey possible through his sponsorship and support.

Stay tuned for more adventures to come!

Today's is all about Shalean & Freedom!

As part of our group program, this dedicated duo trained alongside other service teams in monthly classes and practiced public outings at stores and outdoor malls. With hard work, lots of snuggles, and unwavering support, they made it to graduation! 🎓🐾

Beyond class, Shalean & Freedom are a perfect pair: clearly meant for each other and always sharing with other Veterans how impactful a service dog can be. Shalean shares: “I thank God every day that R4PTSD believed in me when I didn’t think I had much life left. Freedom gave me back the courage I lost.” Stories like theirs are why we do what we do. 💛

A huge thank you to Del Webb The Woodlands Veteran Club for their continued support. They have generously sponsored multiple teams, including Jose & Kobe, Matt & Bear, and now Shalean & Freedom. It was especially meaningful to have DWTW officers join our most recent group training class and meet our teams in person.
