Happy Mother's Day to three women who make GHORBA what it is — Liz, Kristi, and Linda.

Liz keeps our races running. Kristi keeps us organized. Linda keeps us moving forward. Behind every great trail day is a lot of work that never makes the highlight reel, and these three do it while also being moms.

As conversations around Cypress Creek have developed, it's clear there are different perspectives on how best to engage with Harris County Precinct 3. GHORBA believes in supporting the approach that best serves the community, and Dennis Duarte, Scott Dammitt, and CCMTB leadership are well positioned to lead those discussions. We're grateful for their passion and commitment.

GHORBA will remain active at Cypress Creek through trail maintenance and stewardship, continue pursuing opportunities at Cypresswood, and keep building on our work with Precinct 4 at the Anthills.

Greater Houston Off Road Cycling Association welcomes you to the 5th Annual Sugar Land Classic Mountain Bike Race!!!

This is a cycling event for EVERYONE from toddlers on strider bikes to hard core pro racers!! The festivities begin Saturday, May 2nd with Kids and Rookies day!

First up is the Kids Cup for children 11 and under. This is a non-sanctioned FREE event and every participant goes home with an award. The Kids Cup is a winding course through the grass with no hard features. Waves are broken up by age/bike type so this event is suitable for everyone from toddlers on strider bikes to pre-teens with a need for speed. Register onsite. It is the cutest event on two wheels. Helmets are required. We will have a limited number of free child helmets available because we want every kid on a bike having fun!!

Next up is the Rookies Race. This is a special category for teens and adults who are new to mountain biking/racing that want to dip their toe in. If you love it, you can still sign up for the official TMBRA races held on Sunday.

Saturday finishes out with e-bike racing and sanctioned Juniors 12 and under.

Sunday is a full day for Cat 1-3 and Pro/Open races.

10:00 AM Kids cup registration opens
11:00 Adults and Juniors registration opens
11-12pm – KIDS CUP – We will have a tent set up for registration for all kids from 3 to 11 years of age. There will be an instructional bike clinic to discuss:

ABC's - Air, Brakes & Chain maintenance

Bike and helmet Safety - with an AMAZING demonstration that the kids LOVE

Then we will let the kids race his short track and receive medals

12:30pm – 1pm – NEW RACER CLINIC

Preparing your bike to be race ready

Preparing nutrition / hydration

Proper trail / race etiquette

Call ups before your race wave

Q&A

2pm - “ROOKIES” - Non TMBRA / Exhibition Event

4pm - Juniors races (10u 12u)

We want to make the community aware of recent developments affecting the trails at Cypress Creek, Cypresswood, and the Anthills. Harris County Flood Control District has ended efforts to reach an agreement for trail use in Precinct 3 and plans to begin removing features from those trail systems, while the Anthills remain under review with Harris County Precinct 4.

These changes present real challenges, but they also highlight the importance of coming together as a community to advocate for thoughtful, long term solutions. Please take time to read through the letter for productive ways to help engage with our local leaders and land owners.

Thank you to both Scott Dammitt the Trail Steward of Cypress Creek and Dennis Daniel Duarte who have already reached out to Commissioner Ramsey in hopes of getting this decision delayed.
