Standing Beside Harmony: Compassion in Action

When we first met Harmony and her family at the hospital, we knew their journey would not end when we walked out those doors.

Harmony is only seven years old and continues to face an incredibly difficult battle with DIPG, an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer. Her mother, Selena, recently shared a heartbreaking update following Harmony’s latest MRI. The tumor remains and has continued to progress. Her family went to MD Anderson with hope that re-radiation might provide another treatment option, but after reviewing her condition, doctors explained that additional radiation was unlikely to provide significant benefit and could potentially cause further harm.

After many difficult conversations, tears, and prayers, Harmony’s family has made the incredibly difficult decision to bring their little girl home. They continue to hold tightly to their faith, choosing to love their baby, make memories, cherish every moment together, and continue praying for a miracle.

After our first hospital visit, the Little BOZ Foundation had the opportunity to visit Harmony and her family at their home. That visit gave us an even deeper understanding of the challenges this family is facing beyond childhood cancer.

After losing their previous home to a fire, this family of nine had to rebuild their lives and find another place to call home. Their current living conditions are extremely challenging, especially for a family caring for seven children while also supporting a critically ill child.

But we also witnessed something much stronger than hardship: a family continuing to stand together.

During this journey, additional everyday challenges continued to arise. When the family experienced transportation problems, we were able to step in and help get their vehicle repaired so they could have reliable transportation. When their washing machine stopped working, we were able to help with that need as well.

And now, with the beginning of a new school year, this family has several children preparing to return to school while their parents continue focusing so much of their energy on Harmony. Through the support provided by the Little BOZ Foundation, the family will be able to prioritize their immediate needs and make sure their children have some of the basics they need as they begin the school year.

These may sound like ordinary things, reliable transportation, the ability to wash clothes, or making sure children have their basic needs covered, but when a family is already carrying the emotional and financial weight of childhood cancer, even an ordinary challenge can become an overwhelming burden.

This is where community matters.

None of this support happens because of one person. It is possible because of the incredible donors, supporters, volunteers, friends, and families who believe in the mission of the Little BOZ Foundation WWW.LittleBoz.Org

Every donation entrusted to our organization gives us another opportunity to show up when a family needs someone beside them. Sometimes that means helping with a major unexpected expense. Sometimes it means helping relieve the pressure of everyday necessities. And sometimes it simply means sitting beside a hospital bed, visiting a family at home, listening, praying, and reminding them that they are not alone.

We don't share Harmony's story to focus on what her family doesn't have. We share it because we want people to see the strength of this family and the difference compassion can make during an extraordinarily difficult chapter of their lives.

Our commitment to Harmony and her family continues.

We don't know what tomorrow will bring for this beautiful little girl. What we do know is that as long as this family continues walking this difficult road, the Little BOZ Foundation intends to continue walking beside them in every way we reasonably can.

Harmony's Story: A Family Carrying More Than Anyone Should Have

At just 7 years old, Harmony is fighting the biggest battle of her young life.

In December 2025, only weeks after her family experienced another devastating loss, Harmony was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), one of the most aggressive and heartbreaking forms of childhood brain cancers. She immediately began radiation treatments, giving her family hope that they might have more time together. For several months, her condition remained stable, and her family held onto every small victory, cherishing every smile, every conversation, and every day they were blessed to spend together.

But in June 2026, everything changed.

Harmony's health began to decline rapidly. Today, she is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Texas Children's Hospital, where she has shown very little response. Her family remains by her bedside, praying for comfort, strength, and a miracle while making the most of every precious moment they have with their little girl.

As heartbreaking as Harmony's medical journey has been, it is only part of this family's story.

Her mother, Selena, has endured unimaginable loss in an incredibly short period of time. In November 2025, the family lost their home, forcing them to rebuild their lives while caring for seven young children. Then, while supporting Harmony through her cancer treatments, Selena's own mother passed away from cancer in June 2026. To lose your mother while watching your child fight for her life is a burden that no parent should ever have to carry.

Harmony is one of seven children, making them a family of nine. Their youngest child is just one year old, while their oldest is only twelve. Despite everything they have endured, the family remains together in a 700-square-foot home, where every inch of space is shared and every day is a struggle to meet the needs of a growing family.

As Harmony's condition worsened, her father was forced to make one of the hardest decisions of his life. He had to leave his job so he could care for Harmony, support Selena, and be present for their seven children during countless hospital visits, medical emergencies, and long days at Texas Children's Hospital. Like so many families facing childhood cancer, they were forced to choose between earning a paycheck and being there for the moments that mattered most.

No family should ever have to face this much heartbreak in such a short amount of time. Yet through every hardship, they continue to lean on one another with remarkable strength, courage, and faith.

At the www.littleboz.org Little BOZ Foundation, we believe no family should walk the journey of pediatric cancer alone. While we cannot erase the pain or change the diagnosis, we can stand beside families like Harmony's by offering compassion, encouragement, financial assistance, and hope during one of the darkest seasons of their lives.

Harmony's story is a powerful reminder that childhood cancer affects an entire family not just the child fighting the disease. Behind every diagnosis is a mother, a father, brothers and sisters, grandparents, and loved ones whose lives are forever changed.

Sparking Hope in Every Little Heart

At WWW.LittleBOZ.ORG Foundation, we believe every child’s story matters. Some stories are filled with joy, others with challenges, but the most powerful ones remind us what strength, love, and faith truly look like.

This is Kayleana’s story.
A Life Changed Overnight
Deanna is a devoted mother of three: Kayleana, Kristian, and Jamere. Her children are her entire world. On September 19, 2024, just one day before Kayleana’s 8th birthday, their lives changed forever. Kayleana was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain cancer known as High-Grade Glioma, a grade 4 tumor. These tumors are fast growing, with very limited treatment options and a devastating prognosis.
In a single moment, everything shifted.

A Mother’s Sacrifice
Within just two weeks of the diagnosis, Deanna made life altering decisions to fight for her daughter. She left her job. She placed all of her belongings into storage.
She relocated to be closer to the hospital so Kayleana could begin six weeks of radiation treatment, Monday through Friday. Without reliable transportation and facing a two hour commute, staying was not an option. She moved to Texas alone with her three children, without family support. Her only focus was making sure Kayleana received the best care possible.

A Journey Without Stability
Since that moment, life has been anything but stable. Over the past year and a half, Deanna and her children have moved nine times, living between palliative care homes and hotels. Maintaining a job became nearly impossible, as Kayleana’s condition required constant attention and care. Every decision and every moment revolves around her daughter. Despite treatments and relentless effort, the cancer returned three times, each time more aggressive than before. Still, they continue to fight.

Choosing Faith Through Uncertainty
After considering relocating back to Iowa for family support, Deanna made another difficult decision. She stayed in Texas, believing it is where Kayleana could receive the best care. The past months have been incredibly difficult. Hospital visits, treatment setbacks, and increasing pain have become part of daily life. On January 3, 2026, Kayleana was placed on hospice care after doctors confirmed the cancer had spread to her brain and spine. Medically, there were no more options. But Deanna chose to hold on to something stronger than fear. She chose faith.

Deanna’s Testimony (In Her Own Words)
The following message is shared directly from Deanna:
“I am a firm believer that God will not take His hands off my baby. She is a walking miracle and she will have a testimony to tell. I am committed to showing up, praying, and believing, even when the circumstances around me do not look finished. God is my source, my strength, and the reason I do not give up. Even when my prayers feel like whispers, I trust that He hears the things I do not have words for and sees the hope I refuse to let go of. I choose to let my words agree with heaven rather than my circumstances. I will not wait for proof to praise or clarity to trust. I speak life over my Kayle, peace over my process, and hope over every unanswered question. I move forward confident that God honors faith spoken out loud, trusting that what I speak in faith today will become my testimony tomorrow.”

Kayleana’s story is not just about illness. It is about a mother’s unconditional love, a child’s unimaginable strength and faith that refuses to break under pressure. Families like Deanna’s are facing battles no one should have to fight alone. Their journey reflects the reality many families endure when a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

An Update on Brian’s Journey:
Strength, Faith, and Continued Hope

The Little Boz Foundation is grateful to share a hopeful update about Brian and his family as they continue their courageous fight against brain cancer.

Following a major surgery, doctors were able to successfully remove the entire tumor. It was a powerful moment of relief and gratitude for Brian’s family and everyone who has been praying and supporting them along the way.

Brian is now continuing his treatment and is currently undergoing both radiation and chemotherapy. Despite the challenges that come with these treatments, Brian is showing incredible strength and resilience. His family shares that he is already well into his treatment process and continuing to move forward with courage each day.

Through it all, the family remains grounded in faith and the support of their community.

“We are still taking it one day at a time,” his mother shared. “Remaining in faith and prayerful.”

There are also moments of light along the journey. The family is planning a special trip to Camp Sunshine, a place where children facing serious illnesses and their families can experience joy, connection, and time together away from hospital walls.

For the Little Boz Foundation, Brian’s journey does not end with one visit or one act of kindness. Our commitment is to stand beside Brian and his family throughout this entire fight — offering support, encouragement, and reminding them that they are never alone.

Brian continues to inspire everyone around him with his strength, and the Little Boz Foundation will continue walking this road with him and his family every step of the way.
