Our story has humble beginnings in an exercise as part of a Certified Peer Specialist training. Kat was in the training with one of her close friends and co-workers, and we were ruminating on how our personal experiences with sexual trauma might be turned into something that could help others going through similar situations. Neither Kathryn nor her co-worker had the support they needed when they
were going through the various reporting processes, and wished there could have been someone to walk beside them on their journeys. In the course of working as a Lead Peer Support Advocate, Tina found out about the idea for the organization and shared her experience. She believes that had she had the support we provide, her own experiences would have been vastly different. With the help of our volunteer corps, we look forward to providing support to those who will benefit the most from having one person they can count on throughout the entire process of reporting, from the initial report, through the medical exams, through working with the police, through the entire court proceedings, and beyond. We believe no person should be alone during one of the most difficult periods in their life.
