Rescuing homeless dogs in Houston & Dallas TX & networking with rescues in Wisconsin to find them loving homes where they are wanted once healthy.

The idea of Lola's Lucky Day all began on December 24th, 2013. Larissa Gavin, her twin sister Natalie and her dad went on a tour of a bad part of Houston known for dumping dogs. That day changed her life and she decided to do anything within her power to make a positive change. They saw so many sweet, loving homeless dogs wandering the street who were so thankful for kind human interaction and a f

resh bowl of food and water. It literally felt like a different country, not a place located 10 minutes from downtown Houston. Her dad mentioned that the local shelter in their hometown in Wisconsin didn't have that many dogs. With that in mind, she started reaching out to her friends and Wisconsin rescues to see if they could help place dogs into good homes if she was able to get them vetted and healthy first. Fast forward and now over 7,500 once homeless pups saved; Lola's Lucky Day is becoming a reality. Named after one of the first puppies that Larissa had rescued and the premise that it is truly each dog's "Lucky Day" when they are taken off the streets to begin their new life.

Update! A HUGE Thank you!!!! Priscilla had her surgery today and it was perfect! She has a much improved sniffer now!!!!!! We will put her updated photo in the comments!
Hi friends! We’d like to introduce you to our sweet little 12 lb munchkin Priscilla. She was found as a stray. She was unaltered and had a severe case of Demodex mange. She has been fixed, and her coat is slowly growing in after being treated for mange. Unfortunately, her breathing is super restricted and she will be going in for nares surgery tomorrow. It would not be kind or fair to let her continue life struggling to breathe. The surgery will improve her quality of life, but it is a little costly. We would love to raise $350 to cover the surgery and Help Priscilla with the oxygen that she deserves. We would be grateful for any donation to help perfect little Priscilla.

A huge thank you to Eagle Scout John Eidson and Troop 209 of Katy, Texas for designing and constructing this incredible multi-tier doggie jungle gym for our nonprofit rescue center 🐶🛝

From the planning stages to the final build, John led this project with creativity, leadership, and a heart for rescue dogs. Troop 209 generously donated their time, effort, and materials to make this enrichment space possible for the pups in our care.

Eagle Scout service projects continue to make a real impact in local communities, and we feel incredibly lucky to have been chosen as the recipient of such a thoughtful and unique build. Our dogs are already loving their new place to climb, play, and explore!

Hi friends!!!! We’d like to take a moment to introduce you to one of our most recent intakes. This is Harlan! He was being fed by Good Samaritan in a neighborhood for several years. He was everybody’s dog and nobody’s dog. sigh…. Fortunately the right person crossed his path and he was surrendered and came into rescue. We will make sure that he is going to be somebody’s precious dog soon! Harlan got a much-needed haircut and will be going to the vet this week! Once he is fully vetted, we promise he will go see a professional groomer, but he’s happy about his hack job for the moment! We would love to raise funds to cover his heartworm test, rabies vaccine , and chip insertion on Thursday. Right now it appears he is fighting a pretty significant urinary tract infection but we won’t get the results back from his sample until tomorrow.

Crumb is hoping he can raise some funds for his dental. His teeth were painful from a life of neglect. Now he is on the mend and soon to be in his forever loving home

Captain Crumb needs our help. A few weeks ago we helped 4 mange covered dogs who were going to be euthanized.

He has healed his skin and now needs a pretty extensive dental estimated at $1200. He has infected broken teeth and needs a deep clean.

Happy Mother’s Day from all the rescue dogs 🐕 to all the different kinds of “moms” that make rescue possible! We ❤️ you!

If you’re interested in being a foster mom in the Houston area, we have lots of dogs that would love to cuddle with you on the couch, watch tv, go shopping, go for a walk, or even a run! We promise most of them don’t talk back either 😉

Trevor is just one example of a little dude looking for a short term foster mom this Mother’s Day!

Trevor is looking for a foster just until May 30 when he leaves for Wisconsin. His friend Chadwick that was trapped recently just had leg surgery so trying to move Trevor to another foster as Chadwick is in need of specialized care for recovery.

Trevor is about 4 years old and 15 pounds. He’s extremely friendly, walks well on a leash and is a total Velcro dog. He’s already been neutered, chipped, vaccinated, and on flea/hw preventatives. He’s good with other dogs he has met thus far.

Hi friends! We’d like to introduce you to just three of our many cute foster pups! These are Allie, Roscoe, and Sissy! Each are sweet and wonderful and very deserving of a second chance! As a rescue, we have to be very conscientious of every dollar spent. Allie came to us with a cherry eye that needed to be repaired. Roscoe is a senior and needed to have blood work and a much-needed dental. Sissy is not very old, but she’s a little dog and HAD to have a dental. Her poor little mouth was a wreck. We would love to raise $1500 to help cover the costs of these three dogs vetting! Thank you for helping us continue to help dogs like Allie, Roscoe and Sissy!
