Listen to what one of the Walkabout guides, Jack Limburg, had to say about serving the Fatherless in America (in picture, he is guy wearing the green shirt):
“Even as a kid, God was growing a passion within me to love and serve the orphaned and the fatherless. If only they could have a dad who would teach them what it means to be a man in the way that my dad had taught me. I knew that I had to do something.
I started my first Summer working as a backpacking guide for Outdoor Adventures. In total, there were 6 of us guides. We saw numerous young men give their lives to Christ, get baptized, and overall commit to living a life as a biblical man. The beauty of Outdoor Adventures is that it created an environment for us guides to be discipled while we were ministering to others. We recognized that we were ultimately participating in God’s ministry—not creating our own—and that we needed His work in our lives, just as much as each person who joined us for a Walkabout. As guides, we walked (literally) with each other through some of life’s greatest adventures but also supported each other through intense hardships—even the loss of loved ones. The growth in my own faith and the friendships I made with the other guides that first summer are priceless.
Every summer since then as a guide has presented its own blessings and challenges, but THE ONE THING THAT HAS NOT CHANGED IS THE FAITHFULNESS OF OUR LOVING GOD.”
