Edward's Buddies

Edward's Buddies Edward's Buddies - Sending BFFs (Best Furry Friends) to children scheduled to get a feeding tube for Hi there! Why?

My name is Edward and I am BFF (Best Furry Friend) to a young boy who lives with an Eosinophilic Disorder. My job has been to be there for him, whenever he needs me. I came to live with my little boy shortly after he was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Colitis and had to have a feeding tube placed in his stomach in order to receive a special formula that provided him with all his nutrition to live. I

have gone to hundreds of doctors appoints, kept him feeling safe when he went for endoscopies and colonoscopies, let him squeeze me tight when it was time to change the feeding tube, chase away bad dreams, and to just LOVE him! We recently decided that all kids who need to get a feeding tube as treatment of their Eosinophilic Disorder, should have a BFF like me and started our new program, Edward's Buddies. If you know of a child who be getting a feeding tube as treatment of an eosinophilic disorder, please contact us and we send them out a BFF!

We will be collecting NEW teddy bears to distribute to kids who are heading to the hospital to have a feeding tube placed. Bears should be 14-16 inches in size and MUST BE NEW (with tags)! Because a lot of kids living with Eosinophilic Disorders also have allergies to animals, smoke, dust mites, etc. We certainly don't want their new "Buddy" to make them feel bad! If you would like to help by collecting bears at your school or at a local community event, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you all the information. We are also seeking donations and sponsorships to help cover the costs of shipping the "Buddies" to their new homes. Donations can be made at

Edward's Buddies is joining the Feeding Tube Awareness Foundation in celebrating the 2nd Annual Feeding Tube Awareness Week, Feb. 5 - 11, 2012!

We were recently asked why the Buddies we send out don't have feeding tubes. Ricky, who started Edward's Buddies, answered the question. "I got Edward after I already had my tubie. I didn't want Edward to have to have a tube like me. I think the kids who get the bears should decide if they want their buddy to have a tube or not. It's their BFF, so it should be their choice. Maybe they want to take it to the hospital with them when they go for their tube, and their buddy get one at the same time."
