🛠️ Volunteer Help Needed – January 24th at 1:00 PM 🛠️

On January 24th at 1:00 PM, we’re asking for a little help from our community to take care of something that’s not easy — but very important.

The shed that houses our freezer for animals who have passed away is in very poor condition and needs to be replaced. This freezer is a necessary part of shelter operations, and maintaining it with dignity and respect matters deeply to us.

The new shed has been donated, and the incredible team from Wildlife Rehabilitation Galveston County will be on site with all tools needed to build it.

What we need now are:
💪 strong backs
❤️ open hearts
🤝 a few willing volunteers to help with the build

Important to share, please!

It’s the holiday season 🎄✨ and we want to remind everyone that roadside animal sales are ILLEGAL in Harris County. While many people are searching for the perfect gift, they may feel tempted to stop by a roadside vendor selling puppies like Dobermans, Yorkies, German Shepherds, Pugs, and more, but these sales are against the law and often contribute to unsafe breeding practices 🚫🐶.

As of September 1, House Bills 2012 and 2731 (89th Legislature) expanded enforcement authority to surrounding counties, allowing them to uphold similar bans on open-air animal sales 📜⚖️.

If you come across roadside puppy or kitten sales in Harris County, please report them to us at (281) 999-3191 📞. Be sure to take photos and note the exact location. 📸📍 Your report helps us combat animal overpopulation and protect pets in our community 🐾.

And remember, Harris County Pets has hundreds of wonderful pets waiting for loving homes ❤️🏡. Skip the roadside sellers and choose adoption!

Buying a puppy online and having it shipped is full of risks and you likely will be supporting cruelty. If you can't meet the mother in person to see her mental and physical conditions and see where she and all of the breeders dogs live....Don't buy the puppy!

No one wants to believe the breeder they are talking or texting with is a puppy mill breeder but unless you pick your puppy up in person so you can meet the mother dog to see her mental and physical conditions and see where she and all of the breeders dogs live, it's likely a puppy mill.
