Happy Pride Month from Bunnies on the Bayou:
We begin this Pride Month with a sobering reminder of why Pride still matters.
For many in our community, especially our transgender and gender-diverse siblings, visibility is not a celebration. It is an act of courage. Existing openly in a world that too often seeks to erase, marginalize, or misunderstand them requires a resilience that deserves our admiration, protection, and support.
Pride was never born from comfort. It was born from courage.
It was built by people who refused to disappear. By those who stood up when it was dangerous, spoke out when it was unpopular, and loved when the world told them not to.
That legacy lives on today.
At Bunnies on the Bayou, we believe hope is more than optimism. Hope is action. Hope is showing up. Hope is creating spaces where people can find community, friendship, resources, and belonging. Hope is making sure no one has to face adversity alone.
This month, we celebrate the beauty, diversity, and joy of our LGBTQIA+ community. We honor the generations who fought for the rights many enjoy today. And we recommit ourselves to standing with those whose rights, safety, and dignity remain under attack.
To our transgender siblings: we see you, we value you, and you belong.
To our community: continue choosing courage over fear, compassion over indifference, and hope over despair.
The challenges before us are real. But so is our resilience.
And if history has taught us anything, it is that when our community comes together, we do more than survive.
We bloom.
Happy Pride Month, Houston.
With love, hope, and solidarity,
