BCB 2026 - Rehearsal #5

Here's a short clip of the first drill run without the midi. Half of the hornline was out this night, but we pushed ahead anyway.

There is still 6 months to the first show and we're gonna be CLEAN when we get there!

Bayou City Blues Drum & Bugle Corps is celebrating our 35th Anniversary in 2026. Three and a half decades of fun, friendship, and great music will come together on the field this season with Birdland and Freebird.

Birdland is a jazz classic, made famous by the vocal band Weather Report and Trumpet superstar Maynard Ferguson. This toe tapper also has history with BCB, being featured in our highly entertaining 2017 program “Jazz After Dark.” This season the Corps has been blessed with a number of lead players and soloists, so our new arrangement heavily resembles the Maynard version. It will be high energy, high octane... and high OCTAVE!

Freebird has been a standard with BCB (and GCS) since 2007. We even performed it at the funeral of our late Corps Director, Brian Wilt, at the request of his son. Given its history and emotional depth, it seemed a fitting way to close out our 35th Anniversary. However, as awesome as this Lynyrd Skynyrd classic is, we added an extra spicy old-school drum corps finale that will leave the audience standing, cheering, and screaming “FREEBIIIIRD!!”

Hey GCS vets. The 35th Anniversary season of our Corps begins TONIGHT!

Back in the day, "Spaceballs" was one of those silly movies that we watched on tour over and over and then quoted over and over and over! Yesterday, Mel Brooks announced that Spaceballs 2 is in production and I think that's a sign. If he can still make Spaceballs movies, YOU can still play in drum corps.

As of August 4, 2012, Gulf Coast Sound Drum & Bugle Corps has been decommissioned by the Gulf Coast Drum Corps Associates.

The Corps has not permanently folded, but is not active at this time.

Further information regarding future plans will be posted in the coming months.

Those interested in joining GCS are encouraged to inquire with Texas EnCorps Drum & Bugle Corps.

Gulf Coast Sound will host our Summer Show TONIGHT July 26, 2012 at the Performing Arts Theater on the Lone Star College-North Harris Campus. Show time is 8:00 pm. The show will highlight the full corps and individual/ensemble performances from many of our members.

Come out and see GCS in our final performance of the Summer!

it was great to se all of the GCS people at the Houston DCI show last night. Great night for Drum Corps and 8 of the top junior corps showing off their best...and a couple GCS alums performing for us (great job Michelle and Nathan!)
