After three decades of dedicated service, Peter Wuenschel is retiring from Communities In Schools - Bay Area, leaving a significant legacy. Upon his initial appointment, the organization operated as Bridgeport – Communities In Schools. Under his leadership, the organization expanded from its origins at Webster Intermediate and League City Intermediate campuses to become the Communities In Schools – Bay Area recognized today.

Peter Wuenschel’s commitment and dedication have been instrumental in expanding support across campuses in Clear Creek ISD and Dickinson ISD. The organization recognizes and honors the energy, care, and compassion he has contributed throughout his tenure.

The Freedom 250 July 4th Parade is a signature event for the South Belt community, showcasing patriotism. We encourage participants to enter a float and demonstrate their creativity. You must enter to be eligible for awards.

Check-in opens at 9:00 a.m. at Sagemont Church's parking lot. Judging will begin at 9:30 a.m. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m., with floats proceeding through the community.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

* Most Patriotic
* Best South Belt Spirit
* Most Original
* Judges Choice

Spectators may vote during the parade for the People’s Choice Award. The winner will be announced in a future issue of the South Belt-Ellington Leader.

All award plaques are sponsored by Raquel Forero, REALTOR, Forero Realty Group.

At the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce's General Membership Luncheon on Wednesday, May 27th, members and guests learned about a major new project for Webster, Texas. Bob Mudd and Julia Maguire of VENU presented details on the upcoming Sunset Amphitheater, a venue set to transform regional entertainment.

Inspired by venues such as the Sphere in Las Vegas, the Sunset Amphitheater is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and cultural scene. The presentation outlined how the venue will attract visitors from across Texas and beyond, increasing hotel occupancy, supporting local attractions, and driving business to restaurants and gas stations in our region.

Local businesses are preparing for an increase in visitors, including concertgoers, families, and tourists. The amphitheater’s design, technology, and programming are expected to enhance Webster’s cultural offerings and provide substantial benefits to the hospitality and service industries.

We had a blooming good time at Frost Bank’s Bubbles and Blooms event at Butler's Courtyard on Thursday, May 14th! Lots of ladies and a few brave gentlemen, who they claimed were serving as security, gathered in full floral force, ready to let our creativity blossom. With petals flying and prosecco bubbling, we crafted our very own spring arrangements under the expert guidance of Lush Flowers Rene Johnson—a true floral maestro.

The room was abuzz with laughter, blooming friendships, and the sweet fragrance of fresh flowers. Each bouquet was a unique bouquet of color, creativity, and cheer, reflecting the garden of personalities in the room. Thank you to everyone who rooted themselves in the moment and made the day flourish!
