“It pains me to say this. In the last century the entire world was scandalized over what the N***s were doing to maintain the purity of the race. Today we do the same thing, but with white gloves.” — Pope Francis

In this powerful 1639 masterpiece, Flinck captures the moment heaven invaded earth—when ordinary shepherds, keeping watch in the darkness, were suddenly bathed in divine light.
Notice how the angel doesn’t appear to kings or priests, but to humble workers. God chose the lowly, the forgotten, the night-shift laborers to receive the first announcement of salvation. This is the great reversal of Christmas: the King of Kings arrives not in a palace, but in a stable—and His birth is proclaimed first to those society overlooked.

The shepherds’ postures tell the whole story of encountering the sacred: fear, awe, wonder, surrender. “Do not be afraid,” the angel says. These words echo throughout Scripture whenever heaven touches earth, because the presence of God is overwhelming to our fallen nature.

Yet the message that follows transforms terror into joy: “For unto you is born this day a Savior.”

This Christmas, may we be like these shepherds—awake in the darkness, open to wonder, ready to leave everything behind and run toward the manger. The same Light that broke through their night still shines for us today.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. 🎄✨

Padre Pio’s Perfect Response to Praise 🙏
Father Antonio Durante was walking with Padre Pio when he noticed crowds showing incredible devotion to the saint. In his mind,

Father Durante wondered: “How can this man resist the temptation of vanity? How does he not feel pleased with himself seeing all this adoration?”

The moment he finished this thought, Padre Pio turned to him, smiled gently, and said:
“See how much glory is being given to God!”

Even with the ability to read hearts, Padre Pio’s first instinct was to deflect ALL praise back to God.

When asked about his supernatural gifts, he humbly told his friend: “Angelo, they are a mystery for me too.”

True humility: recognizing that every gift, every moment of grace, every blessing flows through us but belongs entirely to God.

The saint who bore Christ’s wounds for 50 years never forgot he was just an instrument.

This is a documented testimony from Father Durante, recorded in the historical archives.

70 Christians were brutally beheaded by Islamist militants inside a church in Kasanga, North Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo. Kidnapped from their village, these faithful were tied up and executed, their bodies left in a grim testament to their unwavering faith. Amid escalating violence, families waited a week to bury their loved ones out of fear, and many survivors have fled. Let us pray for them and their souls, their grieving families, and for an end to the persecution in this conflict-ravaged region. 🙏

Catholic saints are venerated for their extraordinary faith, service, and dedication to God’s teachings. Their lives often showcase a deep commitment to prayer, acts of charity, and the pursuit of holiness. Here are short highlights of how they worked and prayed:

1. St. Francis of Assisi: Embraced poverty and simplicity, preaching to people and animals alike about God’s love. His deep connection to nature and prayer led him to establish the Franciscan Order.
2. St. Teresa of Avila: A mystic who experienced profound spiritual visions, she reformed the Carmelite Order. Her writings on prayer and contemplation emphasize the importance of an interior life dedicated to God.
3. St. Ignatius of Loyola: Founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) after a conversion experience. He developed the Spiritual Exercises, a retreat and meditation program to deepen one’s relationship with God.
4. St. Thomas Aquinas: A theologian and philosopher, he sought to understand and explain Christian doctrine through reason and faith. His extensive writings, including the “Summa Theologica,” were the fruit of his scholarly work and prayer.
5. St. Therese of Lisieux: Known for her “Little Way” of spiritual childhood, she believed in doing small acts of love with great devotion. Her autobiography, “Story of a Soul,” reflects her deep prayer life and trust in God.
6. St. Augustine of Hippo: His conversion story, documented in “Confessions,” shows a journey from a life of pleasures to one of spiritual seeking and eventual surrender to God, influencing Christian thought profoundly.
7. St. Joan of Arc: Led French troops to victory in the Hundred Years’ War, guided by visions of saints. Her faith and determination, fueled by prayer, made her a national heroine of France.
8. St. Francis Xavier: A missionary who traveled extensively, especially in Asia, to spread Christianity. His zeal for saving souls was matched by his reliance on prayer and the sacraments.

These highlights show that Catholic saints accomplished their works through a combination of prayer, unwavering faith, and actions inspired by their love for God and humanity.

Join us in supporting Fr. Deus, a Catholic priest who serves hundreds of orphans selflessly each day and provides for them both materially and spiritually. We promised Fr. Deus we would try to help him as much as possible, join us in making it possible for him to continue to expand and serve his community in Uganda.

Pray for Fr. Deus! “The world looks to the priest, because it looks to Jesus! No one can see Christ; but everyone sees the priest, and through him they wish to catch a glimpse of the Lord! Immense is the grandeur of the Lord! Immense is the grandeur and dignity of the priest!” - Pope St. John Paul II
