A heartbreaking tragedy has left the community of Mandan, North Dakota, in mourning after three young children were found critically injured inside a home on South Frontier Trail.

According to authorities, police responded to the residence Thursday evening following reports of seriously injured children. Officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel immediately began lifesaving efforts at the scene.

Sadly, two of the children — a three-year-old and a five-month-old baby — later died from their injuries. A third child, aged one, remains hospitalized and continues to receive medical care.

The children’s mother, 22-year-old Kailey Erhart, was arrested at the scene and is facing several charges, including murder, attempted murder, terrorizing, domestic violence, and child abuse. Authorities said she had locked herself inside the home. The children’s father was also reportedly present at the time of the incident.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.

At Maureen Joseph Care & Support Foundation (MJCSF), we are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our mission has always centered on compassion, care, advocacy, support, and standing with individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and everyone affected by this unimaginable loss. We also recognize the police officers, firefighters, paramedics, medical personnel, and other first responders who faced an extremely difficult situation while working to save these young lives.

It was far from a typical Friday night at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.

Stories like this reflect the kind of transformation the Maureen Joseph Care & Support Foundation is passionate about supporting. Our mission is to provide care and support for incarcerated individuals while promoting their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society through compassion, hope, and meaningful opportunities.

Eddie McLoughlin, Manager of the Prison Fellowship Academy, shared how the project came together.

According to Eddie, Chaplain Mark Testroet invited members of the Prison Fellowship Academy to help prepare and repaint the prison chapel. In response, a team of 18 volunteers—including current Academy participants, graduates, and Pathways members—came together to serve.

The group willingly dedicated their Friday evening and Saturday to repainting the prison chapel and mental health treatment classrooms. Their selfless service not only improved the facility but also demonstrated the power of purpose, teamwork, and faith in restoring lives.

A local church further encouraged the volunteers by providing 20 pizzas, creating a moment of fellowship and appreciation after their hard work. Eddie described the experience as a powerful reminder that positive change is possible when communities invest in people rather than their past mistakes.

Since Chaplain Mark Testroet began serving at the North Dakota State Penitentiary, he has worked tirelessly to establish a thriving church within the prison, where more than 271 inmates have been baptized.

ONE INMATE. THREE DEATHS. ONE DIFFICULT QUESTION ABOUT JUSTICE.

Ricky Wassenaar, a 62-year-old inmate serving 16 life sentences, allegedly killed three convicted child s*x offenders in a single day at the Arizona State Prison Complex–Tucson.

The deceased inmates were reportedly serving sentences for serious s*xual crimes against minors, including the r**e and murder of a 15-year-old girl.

When questioned, Wassenaar reportedly admitted responsibility, stating that he deliberately targeted them because of their crimes.

He now faces additional murder charges and could receive the death penalty.

At Maureen Joseph Care & Support Foundation, we strongly condemn every form of s*xual abuse, especially crimes committed against children. However, we also believe that no inmate should become the judge, jury and executioner of another person.

A functional justice system must protect victims, punish offenders lawfully and ensure the safety of every person in custody.

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, Colin Gray (age 55), the father of C**t Gray, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He had provided his then-14-year-old son with the assault rifle (an AR-15-style weapon given as a Christmas gift) that the teen used in the September 4, 2024, shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia (Barrow County). 
Key facts:
• The shooting killed two students (Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14) and two teachers (Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53), and wounded others.

🚨 James Farthing, who won a $167.3M jackpot, was busted in for allegedly strangling a woman after a boating trip

What happened
According to a criminal complaint from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office (Kentucky):
• Farthing and a woman returned from a boating trip around 9 a.m. on July 26, 2026.
• They got into a verbal argument at a home on Cynthiana Road that turned physical.
• The woman reported that Farthing began strangling her. Deputies noted visible welts/marks on the right side of her neck.
• She also said the incident may have been captured on a Ring camera in the bedroom.
He was charged with:
• First-degree strangulation (domestic violence-related)
• Fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, minor injury)
Farthing was arrested and booked into the Scott County Detention Center. On July 28 he pleaded not guilty in Scott County District Court. Bond was set at $15,000 cash. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and must wear a monitoring device that alerts authorities (and the victim) if he comes near her. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 27.
