We survived Garner State Park. Great day on Saturday. Got some good axe yard training and a 7 mile hike with map and compass.
Around 4am Sunday morning the skies opened up and rained cats and dogs.

Our brother troop had their OA Elections this evening.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is Scouting's national camping honor society. It recognizes Scouts and Scouters (adults) who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well.

Congratulations to these special SIX boys who met the requirements for the election. 👏🏽

While much of our time is spent learning outdoor survival skills, personal fitness is also a key component of the scouting program.

Today some of our Scouts began working on the physical fitness portion of their Tenderfoot rank requirements. They will continue this requirement at home for 30 days and then demonstrate improvement in each of the areas tested.

Which U.S. presidents were Scouts?

John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden were all Scouts as boys.

On this Presidents Day, let's remember Gerald R. Ford, our 38th president and, at least so far, the only Eagle Scout to ascend to the most powerful post in the country.

Ford, who earned the Eagle Scout award in 1927 as a member of Troop 15 in Grand Rapids, Mich., went on to receive the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1970.

When Ford died in December 2006, his family requested an honor guard of 200 Eagle Scouts. They knew how important Scouting was to the man throughout his life.

In fact, 400 Eagle Scouts - aged 15 to 85 - lined the road to his presidential museum in Grand Rapids. A fitting memorial to the man who once said, "One of the proudest moments of my life came in the court of honor when I was awarded the Eagle Scout badge. I still have that badge. It is a treasured possession."
