This , we’re thinking about the nearly 8 million student-athletes across the country putting in the work while facing barriers that have nothing to do with talent or drive. Nearly 1 in 5 youth athletes say cost has made it difficult to continue playing.

The athletes featured in this graphic are just a few of the student-athletes we’ve had the opportunity to support through scholarships, representing different ages, sports, and stages of their journey.

At Gear for Greatness, our mission is simple. Make sure cost is not the reason an athlete has to walk away from the game they love. Through past gear drives and community support, we’ve helped athletes stay in it and keep pushing toward what’s next.

Opportunity in sports is not always equal, and we’re here to change that.

The game should not depend on what you can and can’t afford. Give us a follow if you agree! 💫

We’re Gear for Greatness — a Texas nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to making sports more accessible by providing gear, financial support, educational programming and other resources to under-resourced athletes.

Our work focuses on equity, preparation, and creating long-term opportunities to ensure athletes aren’t forced to step away from sports SIMPLY because resources are no longer affordable or obtainable.

Too many athletes are getting priced out of the game. 🚫

According to an Aspen Institute survey, 70% of families are feeling the weight of sports costs… and for too many athletes, that’s where the journey ends.

If you believe every kid deserves a fair shot, you’re already part of this mission. Help us keep more athletes in the game! 💙

Aspire to Inspire — where we talk about every aspect of an athlete’s journey! 🌟

This was our first episode, and it featured the incredibly talented Auma Mbeche-Odhiambo, a collegiate volleyball player and also our first ever scholarship recipient. In this clip, Auma discusses her Achilles injury and how she was able to get through it. 💙
