Black Gold Baseball Is very excited to introduce Coach Braxton Garek to our 14U Majors coaching staff.
Like many young athletes, Coach Braxton found his love for baseball early on in life through coach pitch and never looked back. A native of League City, Texas, he came up through the League City Little League system and went on to play for several select teams in the area, most notably the Houston Bengals organization. A left-handed hitter and thrower, Braxton’s dedication to the game carried him to success at every level.
At Clear Falls High School, he was a standout varsity player, helping lead his team to the playoffs each season he was on the roster. His on-field performance earned him multiple honors, including 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-County, and a selection to the Greater Houston Area High School All-Star Team.
After graduating from Clear Falls, Braxton accepted an NJCAA Division I scholarship to Frontier Community College in Fairfield, Illinois, where he played primarily in center field and occasionally pitched. During his time as a Bobcat, he set the school record for single-season batting average with an impressive .446 mark.
Following two strong years at Frontier, Braxton returned to Texas to complete his collegiate career at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), competing at the NCAA Division I level as an outfielder for the Cardinals.
Since hanging up his college cleats, Braxton has turned his focus to developing young talent. He previously coached a 12U select team, the Knights, leading them through numerous USSSA tournaments and ultimately to the USSSA World Series. As a youth baseball coach, Braxton’s goal is to instill solid fundamentals, teamwork, and a strong work ethic—values that extend beyond the baseball field into everyday life.
When he’s not at the ballpark, Braxton enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah (married in October 2025), their dog Topper, and relaxing outdoors through fishing, boating, and jet skiing around Galveston Bay or Lake Livingston with friends and family.
