It’s TEACHER & NURSE APPRECIATION Week . Where are all of our teachers/nurses at?!

Trace is blessed with a great tribe, his tribe extends from friends, family, therapists, and the BEST team of teachers and nurses. So often we forget those who help us grow and thrive everyday, those who sometime spend more time with us than our families, but not around here!!

Trace loves his nurses & teachers. His nurses ensure he is in tiptop shape and healthy so he can be his best self while his teachers continue to push him and teach him wonderful new things. Trace has flourished since he started ECSE and we couldn’t be more grateful. To all you teachers and nurses out there, we love you, we celebrate you, and we thank you!

HAPPY TEACHER & NURSE APPRECIATION WEEK.

As Trace is trying to become more independent, it is becoming increasingly harder for keep him safe, from himself. He wants to move, but he hasn’t learned how to perfect the soft impact.

Thank you for sharing .griffith.atkins we see you 💚💙❤️

Posted • .griffith.atkins My son’s bedroom door has a lock on the outside of it. We lock it every night - because if we don’t, he will sneak out in the middle of the night and eat. He reminds us to lock the door because it gives him a sense of safety too.

While some parents spend their energy curating the cutest room possible for their kids, I was researching door locks and fridge locks. My energy needed to go towards keeping my son safe.

What are some of the things you have to do on a daily basis to keep your medically complex and/or disabled child safe? These are the unseen battles we are fighting on a daily basis. I’m PROUD of you for the thoughtful, loving, protective parent you are. KEEP IT UP! Because our kids are worth it. 💕

Accessibility Matters

Please don’t block the spot!

Have you ever been trapped? In a elevator or behind a locked door, unable to move freely? That’s exactly what happens when people ignore accessible parking spaces.

Did you know? The lines next to the spaces are to provide room for personal equipment to freely move in and out of a vehicle. It is not intended as a quick space to run an errand.

Even if you think, I’ll only be here for a second, don’t do it. Accessibility is usually a design afterthought, and sometimes they get it wrong. When they get it right, don’t block the spot!

Posted • April 18-24 is Abusive Head Trauma/Shaken Baby Syndrome Awareness Week in NYS.

“A preventable, often life-threatening injury, Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is responsible for 95% of serious head injuries in children under the age of one.

•It can happen quickly. Just 3 seconds of shaking can cause brain damage, paralysis, blindness, learning and behavior difficulties, and even death.
• The average age of SBS victims is 6 months old.
• Continuous crying is the number one reason caregivers shake babies.” - NYS Office of Child and Family Services
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States. / is a leading cause of physical child abuse deaths in children under 5 years of age in the U.S.

Posted • Hi everyone hope you had a good week and the weekend is wonderful for you all.

I have to come on and share this absolutely monumental achievement, I have had a piece of work published by the Times Educational Supplement !!

The article is written on how I use my disability as a positive to instill a can do attitude for our my learners, i show them how we share challenges and we can overcome them.

I talk about how I educate my colleagues around my disability and how I positively make a contribution to creating materials around disability

Lastly I talk about the postive message I would send out to other organisations when employing people with disabilities and the richness that can be gained

Beyond proud shows hard work pays off 💚

Welcome to the Tribe

A Trace of Love was created for awareness, prevention and recovery support for children that have a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) caused by Abusive Head Trauma (AHT). A Trace of Love, was inspired by Trace, our little survivor.

On his recovery journey, Trace has had the community rally around him. We decided to create a non-profit organization to spread hope and love to survivors like Trace.

All of the people that have been behind Trace, giving him encouragement, love, laughs, and support are a part of Trace’s Tribe. We are expanding Trace’s Tribe include all of the people that are helping us spreading the word and work in our mission. It’s as easy as reposting our message on social media, attending a meeting or becoming a volunteer. We aim to increase awareness and empower people to spread love, the only way toward prevention. We welcome you to become a part of the Tribe!
