The objective of the Houston Compensation and Benefits is to provide current information, service, and communication opportunities to all practitioners of the compensation and benefits profession in the Houston area. Over the years, the association has grown to a membership of more than 300 participants representing approximately 200 companies. These companies represent a large cross-section of in
dustries such as energy, financial, manufacturing, medical, engineering, and utilities. The annual membership fee for is $95.00 and is offered on an individual basis only. These fees are used to defray the cost of numerous activities, services and publications. The benefits of HC&B Membership are:
HC&B holds bimonthly meetings (generally luncheons) at a Houston area hotel. Programs often include mini seminars or workshops on a variety of subjects. Some of the prior topics include: rewarding excellence, pay strategies for the new economy, trends in executive compensation, reengineering human resources, Fair Labor Standards Acts practices, international compensation issues, and variable compensation incentive plans. A bimonthly newsletter is published with current information pertinent to the human resources practitioner. HC&B began sponsoring WorldatWork certification courses in 1990 to promote the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designations. In addition, various workshops and seminars are offered as professional development and educational opportunities. HC&B also offers a job posting service to help members become aware of new job opportunities.
