Asking for more prayers for daddy dog, Major. He’s having a rough time with a few unusual side effects such as a nose bleed, lethargy, and not eating. Major is an Australian Shepherd with the MDR1 gene mutation which means that he may have an adverse reaction to some of the drugs used in his treatment. A&M’s protocol takes the gene mutation into account and takes precautions, but we’re not even sure that’s what the problem is.

He has improved since yesterday but is still not wanting to eat. Praying his appetite returns and we can bring him home tomorrow.

Hold your puppies close, y’all and treasure the unconditional love they give us!

Major’s Halfway House Rescue is up and running again! We are a non-profit, registered 501c3 dedicated to helping dogs currently held at local Houston area shelters. We can provide temporary housing for local rescues, and assist in helping these dogs find their forever homes.

In Houston, there are an estimated 1 million stray dogs, many of whom will end up in area shelters. Please consider helping us be a part of the solution to this disgraceful problem.

We are a bridge created to help save dogs who can be tagged by a rescue but don’t have an immediate place to board and keep them safe until they get to their furever homes.

CORRECTED: Zappa was pulled from Harris County Animal Shelter. He is currently receiving care and boarding thrU MAJOR’s HALFWAY HOUSE RESCUE.

This is Major! He wants to help others find a furever loving home like his!!

Major’s Halfway House Rescue provides a bridge to safety when a dog has rescue interest but the timing of taking the dog and getting it to the foster is a problem.

We’ve taken dogs on death row from shelter to safety and strays off the streets. So far, we’ve been successful in saving dogs who would not still be here if we hadn’t stepped in.
We currently are caring for 4 puppies, a lab mix, a St. Bernard mix, and have ongoing expenses associated with Daisy, the mama who was to be put down. She had her 2 puppies with her.

We are asking for your help with donations to cover boarding, vaccinations, worming, etc. for these precious pups. Our vet, Eric Osterman, with Easton Commons Animal Hospital plays a key role in our ability to help. He still has to keep the lights on, though.

ZAPPA is SAFE thanks to Jan Villemez-Brooks, Teresa O’Connor and Adoptable Dogs From Texas to the East Coast! He was on the euthanasia list at HARRIS COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER today!!

He will be boarding through Major’s Halfway House Rescue at Easton Commons Animal Hospital until he makes his trip to his new family.
