Crosby Historical Society

Crosby Historical Society The Crosby Historical Society's purpose is to preserve and promote the history of Crosby, Texas. Our FB page was founded in 2007.

We are a group of citizens concerned with the preservation of Crosby-Huffman history. We meet quarterly at the Crosby Brethren Church, 5202 First Street at Church Street, Crosby, TX. Our organization is working diligently to open a museum in the near future. Presently we are renovating the building and preparing for an official opening before the year 2023, Crosby's 200 birthday. At our meetings,

we photograph and tape our older citizens speaking about the early history of our area. Citizens are given an opportunity at our meetings to share stories, artifacts/relics, and pictures. Guest speakers have been brought in on occasion such as James Drury, better known as The Virginian on TV. The group organizes field trips to local historical sites and we are presently trying to preserve and protect our historical cemeteries with historical markers. Participation and attendance is open to everyone even without being a member of CHS. If you would like to be a member, our dues are only $10 a year.

🏛️ TIP TUESDAY | Crosby Area History Museum

Want to make history more interesting for your kids? Start with the history that happened right where they live.

Instead of history being just names and dates in a textbook, show them the people, places and stories connected to the community they see every day.

Ask them:
📍 What do you think Crosby looked like 100 years ago?
🚂 Why do you think the railroad was so important here?
🏠 What’s the oldest building you’ve noticed around town?
👀 What has changed — and what do you recognize?

Then come explore the Crosby Area History Museum together and see what you can discover.

Because local history has a way of making the big history feel a whole lot more real. ❤️

We are reposting Bridge and Barrel’s recent post, but not for the reason your might think. Yes, they have great food, decor, and atmosphere. We are sharing because they are part of a small group of entrepreneurs who have helped save one of our old historic downtown buildings. As you look through their photos you will see how much work goes into restoring an old building. Thank you for your part in preserving our history, Crosby, Texas.
