You’ve seen the “Greetings from Crosby” mural—but have you stepped inside the Crosby Area Museum of History?

Make time today to explore the stories of the community we call home. Whether you grew up here or recently started calling Crosby yours, a museum visit is a chance to get a little better acquainted with the place beyond your daily commute.

Docent Steven Harris will be there to help you explore, so bring your curiosity—and that question about Crosby you’ve always wanted to ask!

Come explore the photographs, artifacts, and everyday treasures that tell Crosby’s story. You might recognize a familiar face, rediscover a memory, or learn something new about the place we call home.

Bring a friend, bring the family, and bring your stories—we’d love to hear them. ❤️

When your contacts list came in paperback.
Before “Hey Siri, call Mom,” there was a phone book—and if you dialed the wrong number, you had to wait for that rotary dial to spin all the way back. 😂

Found in our museum, this December 1968 telephone directory served Crosby, Highlands, Baytown, Huffman, and Mont Belvieu. The cover offers a familiar reminder from another era: “Your Area Code Is 713.”

Published by the General Telephone Company of the Southwest, it features colorful phones and the promise, “Telephones bring every place close to hand.”

Today, this everyday object holds a little piece of our community’s story. Names, businesses, and phone numbers can help preserve the people and places that made this area home.
