Nigerian Independence 2020 🇳🇬 ⁣

Igala are an ethnic group of Nigeria, the former Igala Kingdom. It is now apart of Kogi State.

The Igala⁣ practice a number of different religions,⁣ including ATR, Christianity, and Islam.⁣
The home of the Igala people is situated east⁣ of the river Niger and Benue confluence and⁣ astride the Niger in Lokoja , Kogi state of⁣
Nigeria with its headquarters in Idah[seat of⁣ the Attah]. ⁣

In Igala tradition, infants from some parts of⁣ the kingdom, like Ankpa receive three deep⁣ horizontal cuts on each side of the face,⁣ slightly above the corners of their mouths, as⁣ a way of identifying each other. However, this practice is becoming less and less common. ⁣

The Igala and Yoruba have important historical and cultural relationships. The languages of the two ethnic groups bear such a close resemblance that researchers such as Forde (1951) and Westermann and Bryan (1952) regarded Igala as a dialect of Yoruba.⁣

Akinkugbe (1976,1978) is of the opinion that based on evidence, Igala is neither a dialect of Yoruba nor a language resulting from the⁣
fusion of Yoruba and Idoma as claimed by Silverstein, but rather Igala shares a “common ancestor” with Yoruba. ⁣

In her words, “… this common ancestor was neither Yoruba nor Igala but what we have labeled here as Proto-Yoruba-Itsekiri–Igala (PYIG). - igalaunited.wordpress.com

I don’t know if I am the only one, but sometimes I feel like we are confined in a space defined by the measurements of society’s systematic laws which has lost a heartbeat of love for humanity and natural rights given by the most high.

But when we challenge the odds, a revolution for an evolution happens, and humanity wins.
Do not let the space you are confined in prevent you in expressing yourself through your art, freedom and creativity to spark a conversation that will change the world.

You have the power to find liberty if you desire it.

Haitian native, , founder of the band named his band “Zing” because in some parts of Haiti, deep inside the mountains, the people there call dreads "Zing".

He says that it’s a combination of African and Native Indian cultures. The concept of Zing is deeply rooted in his Haitian culture.

His parents also had a band, Boukman Eksperyans, which is where how he embraced the word Experience. He was also inspired by Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Repost

The lovely has died at the age of 43. He passed from late stage colon cancer while at home with his wife and family. 💜

Our deepest condolences and prayers to all who mourn the loss of this young star. Black Panther was one of his many achievements but the one that helped give hope to many black, brown, and indigenous people ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻around the world. May his legacy live on. May he rest in the bosom of the Most High God finally at peace.

“She found the monkey in the bush and is trying to sell it, but there are hardly people on the beach. I asked her what else she does? She sells cloths, jewelry, trinkets and local dishes, she has two kids and takes care of her 70-year-old husband. “Life is hard ” she adds.”

Bunce Island, in Sierra Leone, was the largest British slave castle on the Rice Coast of West Africa in the 18th century. ⁣

Over 50,000 Africans were kept there for 3 to 6 days at a time and forced to do strenuous activities to showcase their strength, before being shipped to the Western world. ⁣

Tens of thousands of Africans were forcefully shipped to the American colonies. Abandoned in the mid-1800s, it is one of the most authentic slave trading facilities still in existence. ⁣

Sierra Leone & her rich history connects African Americans in the coastal south, most notably the Gullah people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
