The Ceci Cares Foundation To gift toys, art supplies, and personal items to children undergoing medical care for critical illnesses in the Houston, metropolitan area.

Ceci Trevino’s journey to bring happiness and joy to children undergoing medical treatment started very early in life. When she was eight she suffered from headaches, vomiting and double vision. Her doctors soon discovered she had a brain tumor. On February 14th 2018 she was admitted into Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) to undergo emergency surgery to relieve pressure around her brain. Ceci was in

the hospital for over a month undergoing surgeries, MRI's and physical therapy. During her stay she was surprised by the many gifts she received from friends, family and even strangers. A year later, Ceci approached her parents with an idea. She wanted to share some of the happiness she experienced while a patient at TCH. This happiness and joy would be shared with children undergoing treatment at TCH during the Christmas season. In 2019, the first Toy Drive took place. Over 350 toys were collected. This was made possible through her fellow classmates at St. Theresa Catholic School, family, friends and her mother’s fellow employees at Matrix Service. The following year in 2020 she did it again! Along with family, friends, her school and the support of her father’s company, Marine Well Containment Company, Ceci was able to collect over 750 toys along with $400 in donations which went to purchase balance bikes for the therapy floor at TCH. With the great success Ceci has had with the Toy Drives she wanted to create a foundation. The Ceci Cares Foundation has come to life in 2021. The ultimate goal is to bring smiles to all the children in hospitals in the Houston area. We have posted some pictures of her stay at TCH. Although, she was going through the toughest time in her life she always had a smile on her face. The crew at TCH always had her involved in crafts, games, and toys to help her keep her mind off what was really happening. That's what she wants to bring to the children who are patients at hospitals. She wants them to forget about what's going just for a bit and know people care. Her motto is Caring is Key.

🎗WHAT ARE BRAIN TUMORS?
*A brain tumor occurs when there is a genetic alteration in the normal cells in the brain. The alteration causes the cells to undergo a series of changes that result in a growing mass of abnormal cells. Primary brain tumors involve a growth that starts in the brain, rather than spreading to the brain from another part of the body.
*Brain tumors may be low grade (less aggressive) or high grade (very aggressive). The cause of primary brain tumors is unknown, although some tumors have germ line mutations and tend to be hereditary. The majority result from somatic mutations and are not hereditary.
*Central nervous system tumors (tumors of the brain and spine) are the most common solid tumor in children. There are approximately 5,000 new brain tumor diagnoses each year, and they are the most common cause of cancer deaths.
🎗 TUMOR TYPES:
* The majority of pediatric tumors are in the posterior fossa (60 percent). These include medulloblastoma, juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma (JPA), ependymoma, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), and atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor

At Ceci Cates Foundation we donates toys, parking passes, food cards and other support for hospitalized children and their families.

We have strong partnerships with Texas Children's Hospitals UTMB Health Clear Lake Hospital Campus UTMB Health Pediatrics Galveston Astros Foundation and love helping out The Sunshine Kids Foundation Big Love, The Wish Chicks and many more.

We hold a large fundraising event each year and this year it will be held on October 17, Noche de Loteria. Save the date!

We were all discussing potential live auction items for this year and want to make it the biggest year ever. Does anyone have access to Astros or Texans games tickets they could donate, beach or vacation house donations or other larger ideas that may came to mind?
