We need to do better. Dogs are not disposable commodities. They have loyalty…

Corky has been waiting a very long time for a home of his own, even though he’s a wonderful boy!
He did have an approved application for adoption, but the girl who fell in love with him had housing breed restrictions. We said he was a ‘supermutt’ because we couldn’t find any pictures that were even close to his appearance. Well, his DNA results arrived today, and we were right. Corky is a supermutt, with 18 breeds in his DNA!
Corky is a loyal dog, LOVES to play fetch, and is very loving. He is almost three years old, neutered, crate and house trained, and up to date on all shots and preventatives. His best family would be one that loves the outdoors, and would take Corky with them on adventures. A fenced yard is a must, since when he’s not beside or playing with his person, his favorite activity is to run and sprint in the yard!
If you would like more information about this wonderful boy, or would like to meet him, email

Corky is available for adoption anywhere in the U.S. and B.C.

♦️UPDATE: Aurora’s surgery plus rabies shot (mandatory) comes to approximately $140. We’ve received $110 in donations so far. If anyone could help with a portion of the remaining costs, Aurora will be grateful (as will Secondhand Pups)! She is scheduled for surgery on January 19.♦️

🐾❤️🐾 Please help! 🐾❤️🐾
Aurora was part of a litter rescued in July that had been abandoned, along with 2 mama dogs and 16 other puppies. Secondhand Pups has been helping for the past several months, administering puppy shots and needed vet care and preventatives. Aurora’s now 6 months old and needs her rabies shot and needs to be spayed. She needs your help!

Seconhand Pups is asking for sponsors to cover Aurora’s surgery. We don’t want her to end up adding to our overwhelming puppy population!
Contributions for Aurora can be made through

This dog waited 198 days. He was allowed to live in the shelter for 198 days before he was adopted. That wouldn’t happen at the Livingston, TX, holding facility. Evidently, the
powers-that-be planned to euthanize 22 dogs as soon as the ACO returned to work. Another deception by LPD.

They were all saved, thanks to Angelica InRescue. If you’d like to help them with boarding these 22 souls that were saved, please contact her page. I’m sure she’d appreciate it.

For 198 days, Charlie waited.
He did not bark for attention. He did not jump. He sat there, eyes softly searching, heart silently hoping.
Every day, families arrived and left. They smiled at the puppies. They cooed at the little ones. What about Charlie? He was consistently "too big," "too shy," or "just not the right fit."
He watched them all leave—one by one—and with each farewell that wasn't his, his spark faded.
He stopped rushing to the front of the kennel.
He stopped dreaming aloud.
Instead, he snuggled into the same corner, on the same old blanket, clutching a glimmer of hope like it was a secret only he knew about.

And then, on day 198, she arrived.
She responded not with enthusiasm or clamor, but with calm and a softness in her eyes that indicated understanding. She strolled passed every cage, every lovely, waving tail, until she came across his.
She didn't ask any questions.
She bent down, looked into his sleepy eyes, and murmured, "Hey, buddy..." I see you. "Let us go home."
Charlie did not move at first. He was terrified of believing it. However, when the kennel door opened and the leash was softly clipped on, he followed. He felt a glimmer of hope that he hadn't felt in months: maybe. Just maybe.

The automobile journey was silent. He sat next to her, unaware of what this meant. But halfway down the highway, she leaned over and touched his face in her hand, tenderly and affectionately, as if he were already hers.
That's when his tail shifted.
Only once. Then again.
Then his entire body relaxed into her.
Because, for the first time in 198 days, Charlie was seen.
He was not "too much."
He was picked.
And this ride? It wasn't limited to a single house.
It was to the point of being overlooked.
The end of the stillness.
Finally, the wait is over.
A sense of belonging is a universal desire.
Someone to trust.
A reason to wag again.
He's not just heading home.
He finally has one.

Spent some time with Secondhand Pups the other day and met these two playful cuties, Link and Vinny. They are a little shy at first but they sure do love to play and hide their toys! I had an awesome time capturing the fun and their Pawfect moments!
