🕊 SIX YEARS LATER, WE STILL SAY HER NAME. 🕊️
MONICA ROBERTS.
Six years ago, our community lost a giant. Monica was more than an activist, journalist, and the voice behind TransGriot. She was a truth-teller, a historian, a sister, a mentor, and an unapologetic champion for Black trans people. She made sure our stories were told by us, for us, and with dignity.
Today, the Monica Roberts Resource Center proudly carries her name, but carrying Monica’s name comes with a responsibility.
It means we must DO THE WORK.
We house people.
We feed people.
We advocate.
We provide emergency assistance.
We create community.
We celebrate trans lives.
And when our people need us, we show up.
Because that is what Monica did.
Monica, we hope we are making you proud. Your voice may no longer fill the room, but your legacy does. Your name is still spoken. Your work continues. Your impact remains. And as long as we are here, you will never be forgotten.
