Saved Just in Time, Ready for His Forever Home ✨

In late March, a small team of us from Hoardin Huskies and Hounds of Freedom made the long trip down to the RGV in Houston. We walked into the Harris County Shelter knowing we’d meet dogs facing the unthinkable — dogs who were out of time, out of chances, and still somehow full of hope.
And then we saw Del.A smaller size Alaskan Husky/Shepherd mix.
He wasn’t barking.
He wasn’t pacing.
He wasn’t begging for attention.
He just sat quietly in his kennel — calm, gentle, and heartbreakingly defeated. The kind of dog who tells you his whole story with one look. The kind of dog you cannot walk away from.
We knew instantly: Del deserved another chance.
So we saved him.
And now, after being transported safely to Ohio, Del has shown us exactly who he is — and who he must have been before life took a hard turn.
In just a short time, we’ve learned:
• He knows many commands
• Walks beautifully on a leash
• Is wonderful with all dogs
• Is house trained
• Is gentle, polite, and eager to please
• And yes… he is the best boy during bath time
It’s clear someone once loved him, trained him, and cared for him. Somewhere along the way, he lost everything — but he never lost his sweetness.
Del is about 3 years old, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He is ready — truly ready — for the forever home he should have had all along.
This boy has been through enough.
He deserves a family who will never give up on him again.

The Hoardin’ Huskies x Hounds of Freedom team is heading to the RGV — one of the hardest-hit areas for homeless dogs. The conditions are heartbreaking. We’re trying to save as many as we can… but we need foster homes ready once they’re healthy enough to travel.

I❤️ them all. Every single one.
Each face, each story, each soul we’ve fought for this year has left a mark on my heart. Some we saved, some we lost, and all of them reminded me why this work matters.

As we step into 2026, I’m holding onto one simple hope:
that this year brings more miracles, more hands willing to help, and more lives we get to pull back from the edge.

Here’s to the ones we’ve saved, the ones we’re still fighting for, and the ones who taught us to keep going even when it hurts.
Here’s to a year where compassion grows louder, support grows stronger, and together—we save more.

Sweet Elsa-Minnie has been our shining light these past few weeks. After nearly a month seizure‑free, we were so hopeful her little body was finally getting the break it deserved. But on Monday, she had two seizures just an hour apart, and we rushed her straight in for bloodwork.

Her seizure meds are right where they should be, but her sodium levels came back low. So now our brave girl has started a fourth medication—Potassium Bromide—with a short preload period before moving to daily dosing.

Through it all, Elsa remains the gentle, loving soul she’s always been. She doesn’t understand the medical terms or the worry behind our eyes… she just knows she’s loved, safe, and surrounded by people fighting for her.
And fight we will.
For her comfort.
For her stability.
For her chance at a normal, joy‑filleed life!
Elsa is more than her diagnosis—she’s a little warrior with a huge heart, and we’re determined to give her every opportunity to thrive. 💛

🎄 A Hounds of Freedom Christmas 🎄

This is what love looks like.
Not perfect. Not polished. But real. Raw. Rescued by either Hounds of Freedom or Hoardin’ Huskies.

On this Christmas morning, while the world unwraps gifts and gathers around trees, we gather around hope. Around healing. Around the quiet miracle of second chances.
Each pup in these photos were once discarded, overlooked, or on borrowed time. Today, they rest in warmth. In safety. In love. Some will move on to forever homes. Some will stay forever. But all of them—every single one—matter.
To our fosters, adopters, donors, transporters, and cheerleaders: you made this possible. You gave the gift of freedom. You gave the gift of life.

From our pack to yours, may your heart be full, your home be warm, and your spirit be lifted by the quiet joy of knowing you made a difference.
