Youth Art Night has been rescheduled to Friday, June 26 in partnership with Houma Main Street Live After Five! 🎨✨

The Bayou Regional Arts Council is inviting young artists under 18 to come out and showcase their creativity in Downtown Houma at Rotary Plaza. This special event is designed to give youth artists real-world experience, community exposure, and an opportunity to share their work with the public in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

We encourage all young creatives to participate and be part of an exciting evening celebrating local art and talent!

Interested youth artists can contact Genie Ardoin at [email protected] for more information. Must register by June 20th!

📣 YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE
We are looking for youth in grades 9–12 who are ready to grow, lead, and make an impact in Terrebonne Parish.
This 5 week initiative will introduce participants to leadership, civic responsibility, community advocacy, service projects, and how local government works. Students will engage in meaningful discussions, activities, and opportunities that help build confidence, communication skills, and community awareness.
✅ Open to Terrebonne Parish youth grades 9–12
✅ Workshops are weekly on Wednesdays starting June 10, 2026
✅ Participants who complete the program will receive a $150 stipend

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell will showcase a free educational program and performance for Native American youth on Wednesday, April 29th, 6:00 p.m., at the Houma Municipal Auditorium. This year’s workshop will feature Frank Waln, an award-winning Sicangu Lakota multi-genre music artist, public speaker and educator from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota.

Frank holds a Bachelor of Arts in Audio Arts & Acoustics from Columbia College Chicago, where he is recognized as a notable alumni and was given the prestigious Mayor’s Award for Civic Engagement upon graduating. Frank Waln has appeared on MTV, CNN, NPR and ESPN for his work and has won numerous awards for his work including Native American Music Awards and “Best Music Video” at the Das Indianer international film festival.
