Early voting for the Nov. 6th General Election begins on Monday October 15th at the Jackson County Administrative Building, 67 Athens Street in Jefferson. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 2.

At the JEFFERSON location only, there will be one day of early voting on Saturday, October 27th from 9am to 4pm.

Please join the social committee for a day of fun in the sun celebrating the Labor Day holiday. Come up to the amenities area for all day activities including a slip n slide for the kids. Bring a side dish or dessert and drinks at 1pm. A hot dog and BBQ luncheon will be served.

As noted in the Newsletter and Dates from the Downs, a significant amount of money was spent to resurface the tennis courts. This repair came earlier than expected for many reasons. One way to prevent an early repair is to use them exclusively for tennis. In the most basic terms, tennis shoes and tennis balls are the only thing allowed to touch the court surface. There is always the parking lot, driveways, and sidewalks where other games can take place. Thank you for your understanding and compliance!

Neighbors, there was a report yesterday afternoon that two men in a red pickup were canvassing door-to-door presumably to solicit yard jobs. This may be a burglary ploy. Even if they are legitimate Whitaker Downs is a "no solicitation" neighborhood. You may call the police if you receive a visit. Please post any identifying identifying information that you may have like tag number, hair color, age, height, make and model of pick-up, etc.

Please be sure to remove your political endorsement signs if you haven't done so already. They were to have been taken down by 8pm last night. Also a reminder to contact the ACC if you have intentions of posting a sign prior to the November election. Have a great day in the Downs!

FYI - Georgia Primary Runoff will be held on August 21st as needed. Mark your calendars to do your civic duty. Don't let the lives of those who have fought for our right to vote be for naught!!

Two more great families have moved into Whitaker Downs this month! Please welcome Scott & Natalie Brooks at 203 Whitaker Way. James & Michelle Sullivan have just moved into 670 Reece and are looking forward to meeting their new neighbors.

FYI - I just read in "The Paper" dated Thursday, July 19, page 10A that one of the proposed T-Splost projects for Jackson County (if it passes) is to put an I-85 interchange here at Hwy. 60. That bit of information might effect your vote one way or the other. - Kelly Fitzpatrick
