Honoring our service members. June is PTSD awareness month. Please care and share. Suffering in silence can be avoided.
π June is PTSD Awareness Month π
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. For Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families, experiences such as combat, training accidents, military sexual trauma, natural disasters, serious injuries, or the loss of a loved one can have lasting impacts on mental health.
PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It is a normal response to abnormal and often life-changing events.
β οΈ Common signs of PTSD may include:
πΉ Nightmares or trouble sleeping
πΉ Flashbacks or unwanted memories
πΉ Feeling constantly on guard or easily startled
πΉ Avoiding people, places, or situations that trigger memories
πΉ Irritability, anger, or mood changes
πΉ Difficulty concentrating
πΉ Feelings of guilt, shame, or isolation
Family members may notice these signs before the individual recognizes them. If you are concerned about a loved one, start a conversation and encourage them to seek support.
π€ Recovery is possible, and no one has to face PTSD alone.
