💜 DRUG OVERDOSE AWARENESS | SIGN WAVING 💜

GOALS Hawaiʻi President Kekoa Carvalho , a two-time drug overdose survivor, survived his second overdose in 2018. Since then, he has turned his pain into purpose—sharing his story and going into communities across our islands to bring awareness to drug abuse, addiction, recovery, and the hope that change is possible.

GOALS Hawaiʻi President & Founder Kekoa Carvalho and Vice President Alvin Legaspi coming together to plan what’s ahead! 🤙🏽🌺

Today’s meeting was focused on two upcoming events for Recovery Awareness Month this September:

🚴🏽‍♂️ Ride for Recovery — riding around the island of Oʻahu to bring awareness to substance abuse, addiction, recovery, and the message that change IS possible.

🤙🏽 Hilo Recovery Awareness Rally — bringing the community together on Hawaiʻi Island to raise awareness, share hope, and stand with those fighting the good fight in recovery.

This is bigger than a bike ride or a rally. It’s about reaching people, breaking the stigma, and reminding our Hawaiʻi communities that recovery is possible and nobody has to fight alone.

On behalf of GOALS Hawaiʻi Team and Kekoa Carvalho , we want to say MAHALO NUI LOA to everyone who is boots on the ground, stepping up and helping our Kaʻū community and our Hawaiʻi people. ❤️🤙🏽

This is what aloha is all about coming together, helping one another, and taking care of our people.

God bless every volunteer, first responder, organization, business, family and individual giving their time, energy and resources. Your aloha does not go unnoticed. 🙏🏽

Big mahalo to KHON2 News & living808tv for giving GOALS Hawaiʻi the opportunity to share our mission with Hawaiʻi. 🙏🏽🤙🏽

What started as a vision to use our stories and struggles to help others continues to grow. Through Mālama With Aloha, we’re working with our youth and communities to bring awareness to mental health, substance abuse and bullying prevention while teaching leadership, service, kindness and aloha. ❤️‍🔥

We also got to share about our upcoming 127-mile Ride for Recovery around Oʻahu for Recovery Awareness Month. As a two-time overdose survivor and now 8 years clean and sober, this one hits home. If our journey can give even ONE person hope to keep fighting, then every mile is worth it. 🚴🏽‍♂️💯

This September, for Recovery Awareness Month, we’re riding around the island of Oʻahu for something much bigger than miles on a bike. 🙏🏽

We’re riding for every person fighting addiction.
We’re riding for those battling alcohol, drugs, opioids, and substance abuse.
We’re riding for the families who have been affected.
We’re riding for those we’ve lost. 🕊️
And most importantly, we’re riding to remind everyone in recovery that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 💚

Recovery is possible. Change is possible. A new life is possible. One day, one mile, and one decision at a time. 💯

Through GOALS Hawaiʻi × Kekoa Pure Aloha — Ride for Recovery, our mission is to bring awareness, spread hope, and show our community that there is life after addiction.

🙏🏽❤️ PRAYING FOR HAWAIʻI ISLAND — WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone across the Big Island, especially our ʻohana in Kaʻū, Nā‘ālehu, Pāhala, South Point and the surrounding communities that took a hard hit from Hurricane Lala.

Kaʻū has experienced devastating flash flooding and storm damage. Homes have been damaged and some swept from their foundations, roads have been flooded or blocked by debris, trees and power lines have come down, and businesses and community facilities around Nā‘ālehu and Pāhala have been impacted. (Big Island Now)

A HUGE MAHALO to our first responders, emergency crews, police, firefighters, utility workers, volunteers, neighbors, and every community member putting their hands to work helping families and cleaning up. ❤️🤙🏽

This is what Hawaiʻi is about. When one community hurts, we all come together. Check on your kūpuna, your neighbors, your friends and your ʻohana. Help wherever you can.

🙏🏽 May God protect Hawaiʻi Island, give strength to everyone affected, and keep our first responders and communities safe as we recover and rebuild.

As we get through Hurricane Lala, let’s remember what aloha is really about looking out for one another. Check on your ʻohana, your kūpuna, your neighbors, and anyone who may need a helping hand.
