🌺 2026 KALAKAUA BASE BALL JUBILEE INVITES NOW OPEN 🌺

In the spirit of fellowship and fair play, we extend an invitation to vintage base ball clubs to join us in the Kingdom of Hawaii for the Kalakaua Base Ball Jubilee invitational base ball tournament, to be held in November 2026 at Cartwright Field, the oldest ballfield in the world!

Clubs will contest matches played strictly by the rules of 1886, honoring the style, pace, and gentlemanly conduct of the game as it was known during the Kingdom era. The Jubilee celebrates our Merrie Monarch through base ball, bringing together clubs, ballists, and supporters who share a devotion to early base ball and its history.

Preferential travel accommodations, including discounted flight and lodging arrangements, will be made available to participating clubs. In addition to match play, a full program of social gatherings and festivities beyond the diamond is planned for players and supporters alike.

Interested clubs and captains are invited to reach out via direct message for further particulars. We would be honored to welcome you for base ball in middle of the Pacific.

OPENING MATCHGAME ANNOUNCED

📍: Waimānalo Beach Park, Waimānalo, Oʻahu, K.H.

WAIMANALO, HAW’I, Feb. 15 — The opening contest of the A.V.B.B.A. will take place at Waimanalo Beach Park, where the Royal Hawaiians and the Waikikis are set to meet in what will be the first official matchgame played under the Association’s auspices. The game will be conducted according to the rules and usages of “base ball” as formerly practiced, and marks the beginning of regular season play.

At the close of play, those present will gather upon the beach for a pic-nic, as is customary, and such persons as may be inclined may take part.

𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟

Notice is hereby given to all gentlemen inclined toward the noble pastime of base ball that an open workout shall be held this coming Sunday at Kapāolono Ball Field, situated at 701 11th Avenue. The grounds shall be open from the hour of one o’clock until four in the afternoon, and all persons desirous of joining a club are invited to attend.

This practice is extended to those who wish to try their hand for either the Waikīkī Base Ball Club or the Royal Hawaiian Base Ball Club, both nines being conducted in the old style and governed by the customs of an earlier era. No prior experience in vintage base ball is required, only a willingness to learn the game as it was played in its formative years, with fair conduct and good fellowship expected of all.

Following the conclusion of play, at precisely four o’clock, a photographic sitting shall take place upon the field. Mr. Landon Shigeta, photographer, will be present to capture likenesses of those players already affiliated with a club. All such participants are reminded that they must be attired in full uniform at that hour to take part. This portion of the afternoon is intended for rostered players only and not for unattached aspirants.

Those curious of the game, eager to join a club, or simply wishing to observe are encouraged to come forth. Base ball, when rightly played, rewards both spirit and community, and all are welcome upon the grounds.
