🌺 Olive’s Free Market 🌺

Through our partnership with Target WaikÄ«kÄ«, we’re able to rescue surplus food—items that would otherwise go to waste—and get it into the hands of our preschool families and community members who can truly use it.

Each week, Donna and Kamalani pick up a variety of foods, including frozen meats and vegetables, yogurts, kid-friendly meals, cereals, and more—along with fresh bread, which we give away weekly. Everything is carefully sorted and checked to make sure it’s fresh and safe. Donna leads the charge—handling pickups, sorting through everything, and making sure the market is set up and ready for families.

Families can come through and take what they need—at no charge.

Groceries are expensive. For many families, this makes a real difference. It helps stretch budgets and eases just a little bit of that everyday pressure.

But it’s more than that—it’s about care, dignity, and showing up for one another.

Mahalo to our partners, our staff (especially Donna!), and everyone who helps make this possible. šŸ’›

Governor George Ariyoshi’s legacy is part of the foundation of WaikÄ«kÄ« Community Center.

The longest-serving governor in HawaiŹ»i’s history, he worked alongside community members who recognized the need for a central place to support WaikÄ«kī—and together, helped make this center possible.

This photo captures Governor Ariyoshi at the Waikīkī Community Center groundbreaking in 1978.

This moment reflects that shared vision: a place for connection, care, and community.

We are grateful for his leadership, his foresight, and the collective effort that brought Waikīkī Community Center to life.

Governor Ariyoshi passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 100.
We honor his life and the role he played in helping shape this community.

Mahalo, mahalo to the Marley Ź»ohana—Orly Marley, , and TUFF Gong Worldwide—for bringing this special concert to life in support of WaikÄ«kÄ« Community Center.

A special mahalo to Isaiah Marley, who helped ignite our keiki library with generous donations from his own book collection. šŸ“š

Your support is helping us grow something truly meaningful for our keiki—supporting our Read, Keiki & Thrive campaign and building a lending library and healthy snack program at WaikÄ«kÄ« Community Preschool.

We’re so excited to see everyone tonight. If you’re joining us, we invite you to bring a children’s book to help us build our keiki library. šŸ“š
And if you’d rather not carry a book, you can support by making a donation to our Read, Keiki & Thrive campaign—link in our Linktree above.

Tonight is about coming together, lifting each other up, and creating something positive for the next generation.

Mahalo to our Marley ʻohana and our community for the love and support.

One love for our keiki. ā¤ļøšŸ“š

The Kona Low donation drive happened yesterday — and our community showed up in a big way.

Because of you, we collected an incredible amount of donations for those impacted by the storms.

Mahalo to everyone who came through — neighbors walking over, cars in our drive-through, all with one goal: to help.

To every volunteer, staff member, partner, and driver who made this happen — thank you. We couldn’t have done this without you.

This is what community looks like šŸ¤

We’re grateful to Makana for sharing this message.

In light of the recent storms and the challenges many in our community are facing, Makana and Waikīkī Community Center have decided to postpone our slack key workshop and performances. This is a time to support one another, and our priority right now is to help get supplies and resources to those who need them most.

If you’re able, we invite you to stop by and contribute to the Waikiki donation drive on Thursday, March 26, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Every item makes a difference.

Our Makana Slack Key Workshop has been rescheduled to June 19, and the concerts will take place on June 20. We look forward to gathering together when the time feels right—stronger, more connected, and ready to share in something special.

We’ll announce new ticket links for the June workshop and performances soon.

Mahalo for your understanding, your support, and for being part of our community. 🩷

ā˜€ļø We are so thankful for this beautiful day today after all the heavy rain šŸ’™

We debated closing, but our plant vendors have worked so hard to grow and prepare their plants—and we didn’t want to disappoint anyone (while always keeping safety first).

And now… blue skies and sunshine 🌿

Come out, support our vendors, and enjoy the day with us.

If you can, please bring a can to support those in our community who need a little extra help šŸ’›
