Yesterday, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada was honored to host representatives of the Daughters of the Nile, including Vesta Marshall, Past Supreme Queen, on behalf of Supreme Queen Kathy Rafter.

This visit marked a significant milestone: the Daughters of the Nile have contributed more than $8 million in support of the hospital over the years.

Multiple surgeries. Months in casts. Countless milestones. And a smile that never faded.

Born with arthrogryposis, bilateral club feet and hip dysplasia, Carlotta's family turned to Shriners Children’s New England, where a team of specialists helped her begin her journey. She underwent multiple surgeries and spent months in casts, but through every challenge, her joyful spirit never faded.

During therapy at Shriners Children's, she learned to use walkers, gait trainers and the Zero G system to safely practice walking. With every session came new milestones and growing confidence.

Today, Carlotta walks with forearm crutches, rides an adaptive tricycle and celebrates new independence every day.

E-bikes bring more speed and more risk!

E-bikes can reach speeds of 20 to 30 mph, and emergency departments are seeing more serious injuries among children and teens, including fractures and head trauma linked to e-bike crashes.

Because operating an e-bike safely requires maturity, experience, and quick decision-making, e-bikes are not recommended for children under 16.

If Your Teen Rides an E-bike:

✅Make sure they wear a helmet for every ride
✅Know and obey all traffic rules
✅Know how to control the bike's speed safely
✅Stay alert to cars and pedestrians
✅Ride responsibly & make smart decisions

Wyatt was born with an extra thumb on each hand and has undergone four surgeries and 19 appointments as part of his care journey at Shriners Children’s St. Louis.

But what makes Wyatt special is what he chose to do with his experience.

When he was in kindergarten, Wyatt told his parents he wanted to write a book about his adventures with Shriners Children's. And he did just that by dictating the story to his mom. The drawings he created at age 5 inspired the illustrations in his book, "Wyatt's Big Adventures with Shriners."

Today, Wyatt is heading into 5th grade and his book is helping other families access care. He and his family donate 20% of proceeds to Shriners Children's and the Midian Plane of Mercy transportation fund, which helps families travel to appointments.

From patient to author, Wyatt is making a big impact! Thank you, Wyatt! ❤️
